  4. Steve you are doing well on this, as said before it does get easier and the benefits more pronounced. Yes these first 8 days as your foundation, look at what you went through and do not want to go through again -- this will propel you forward. And remember -- One step at a time on this journey -- one day at a time.
  5. Happy birthday to you catlover!!!
  6. Twiddling my thumbs, waiting for the tourney selection show and sitting here reading these (sometimes) weird posts.
  7. Welcome aboard Kev, it looks like you have the right mind set. It is difficulty at first but not as your mind has made it out to be. Looks like your a little over a week into your quit so you will start to see some benefits and should start to see some easier times. Coming here, deep breathing, and plenty of cold water (or juice, I did both) goes a long way. And remember to pledge NOPE everyday, it really has worked for me.
  8. Moom awesome job on 7 months, congrats!!!
  9. Congrats on three months Latoya, doing a great job -- take some time to reward yourself.
  10. I am speechless, thank you so much for sharing this. It is honest, real, and raw and hits home. Again congrats on your 1 year.

  14. Welcome aboard, sit back enjoy the ride. Many of your old friends are here and some new ones to meet also.
  15. Hey Kate I also feel for you for having the tough day but it looks like you have the right attitude and keeping strong. Coming here is one of the best things for you when your having a difficult time and craving, just remember the crave will pass -- and it does get better with time.
  16. First of all Gordo welcome aboard. You have made the best decision that you could have for yourself by quitting and 12 days into no nicotine of any sort -- great job. Yes there are differences in how each of us respond to removing nicotine. I noticed the indigestion and anxiety for the first couple of weeks and it does get better. There were times I wondered if I had was loosing it but it did get better for me. I am over two months and still have cravings but it has gotten much better and I do not want to go back again. Try some deep breathing techniques and drinking cold water it really does help. Come here often to read, learn, and speak with us, we have all gone through this and will be glad to help. Keep strong you are doing good.
  17. Yes Hell Week is tough and you are just about through it and believe me it is worth it every long second. From this point things do get better slowly but noticeably so hang in there. You are doing great at this time, drink lots of water, deep breathing, and remember to pledge NOPE each day. You are doing this so keep strong.
  18. Congrats Sslip on your two months, this is a great achievement. Take some time to celebrate today and then look forward to some more benefits of the quit.
  19. OK Boo we party the day away -- 2 years is so awesome, and thanks for all the help
  20. Steve, it is tough going but you have the right attitude, especially your very future grandkids -- so important. Like Whispers stated drink plenty of cold water, really helped me and deep breathing techniques. It does start to get better -- Keep Strong!!!
  21. Glad to have you stop by and Pledge NOPE for today MikePiano. If you get a chance you can stop by the introduction section and tell us a little about yourself, anyway welcome aboard.
  22. Steve, well done and getting through day 4 -- the first week is tough but it does get better especially the physical stuff regarding nicotine. As you see the mental thing will come at you from all sides and it is good thing you are seeing that coming at you know and how sneaky it is. Stay strong and keep coming here for help.
  23. CAquitter -- congrats on the 4 days at this point. Remember why you quit during this period and remember how it made you feel and use that as a foundation -- that along with the thought of how annoying that they are. Stay strong and get better.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
