  1. John glad you went back to the quit. Posts like yours helps me to be aware of what can happen if my "stupid thinking" kicks in. You are doing a brave thing, keep going you can do this.
  2. ^^^Staying strong, it is just the stupid dreams. They are so realistic and does seem like I have broken the quit -- though just in the dream, in reality I intend to smoke no more no matter how strong the lure.
  3. I almost took the bait too. But I know where Bakon might be coming from because the same thing happened to me in the last few days.
  4. 1 year Gigi -- great job -- dance the night away and enjoy you deserve it.
  5. Half a year -- awesome job Illpass, take some time to celebrate!!!
  6. Sunny outstanding job on getting through hell week, you did --- take a bit of time and celebrate!!!
  7. NOPE!!!
  8. Jo, well done. Congrats on a great quit and all the support. Take time to celebrate!!!
  9. You are doing well Sunny, having 7 days is great. It will get better on the cravings, takes some time for your mind to forget all those bad habits -- but as the pig lover states it gets slowly better and better. You are aware to the cravings and you are now getting a handle on how to deal with them -- each day you will get stronger.
  10. Great post -- doing great
  11. My reward for my first month quit was a pizza party for my family. We all love pizza and they had put up so much with my smoking over the years. With the reason for the pizza everybody, especially the grandchildren, had a great time, followed up with a family movie without me having to step outside several times during the showing. Cannot tell you how happy that made me.
  12. Novo as the others have said try to remove yourself from the situation. The irritability is there during the early part of the quit, try to recognize what the triggers maybe so you can prepare. Deep breathing helps and coming here, as you are doing, can help even more. You are doing the right things, keep it up.
  13. Welcome Clarosa. There has been a lot of good advice given to you here. Just realize we are not here to judge, we are here to give any support needed to help you on this journey. Just reach out as you need and we will be here to help you through this quit, you can do it. And do remember to NOPE everyday it really does help.
  14. Welcome Miss Vee and congrats on your quitting. There are those that have used NRT (patches, gum, medicine) and those that go cold turkey. The main thing is to stop smoking, if you need to use the patch to help you get through the quit then that is good for you. I went cold turkey but those close to me that used NRT did have cravings for a cig. Your getting the nicotine slowly through the patch so you will have some cravings. Whatever you need to use from lighting up and having a smoke is a move in the right direction.
  15. GITW, congrats on the six months -- awesome job. Take time to celebrate and keep up the good work.
  16. Rusty you can do this. It sounds like you are doing the right things. Being retired does make it a little harder, I have been going through the same thing. More time on my hands so I walk, play with the dogs and any extra time that was getting hard to handle I come here and read, post, or have some fun. You are doing great and that 1st week is almost done.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
