  1. Great job Octain -- doing well -- take time to reflect and celebrate. Hard to believe it has been 4 months
  2. Awesome job on that 1st week, a hard one to get through. It looks like you are going about this in a good way. Remember to take some time today and celebrate...
  3. Welcome aboard Suze, come along and enjoy this journey -- reach out and be entertained by the weird crew on this train...
  4. I love the daily NOPE also. At first I thought it might be a bit corny but I have come here every day to NOPE and I truly believe that it has helped me greatly, as well as checking in with you all.
  5. Thank you all. A funny thing, I usually am pretty aware of the length of my quit but I actually forgot that yesterday was my 4 month mark. That could be a good thing in a way since I am taking each day now and not thinking so much of smoking. Still keeping my guard though, those craves can sneak up on you.
  6. Well Saz much of my fog was very similar to yours though I believe it only lasted, in a strong sense of the word, a little less than 3 weeks. It took another couple of weeks to completely wave it off. Luckily I am retired so it did not affect me in making decisions or working. I do agree with you that it quite disarming, something that hit me hard at first and did not expect.
  7. Congrats Joe, 1 year is an awesome achievement. You truly deserve to take some time to reflect and celebrate...
  8. DV congrats on the 1 month. Learning to deal with the craves in the early weeks of your quit can be difficult but can be overcome, it was that way with me. I learned with each difficult crave that I was able to overcome the stronger I got. Craves will diminish somewhat over the next few weeks but they can come out of no where so learn from these and come here when the craves get strong. The other thing that will happen is that the craves will be less and less and you will be able to overcome them in a matter of a couple of minutes. Keep strong, you are doing well.
  9. In my shoes it seemed like I always thought about trying to quit. I finally came to the point that I had to quit not try to quit -- that was a turning point for me. Thanks for your post on this subject -- really hit home.
  10. Lml, I think that you are doing well in this quit. You realize to come here when you need some help or advice. I went cold turkey so I can't answer any questions about NRT. I would like to add do anything you can to help your quit. As the pig lover stated the hardest and longest part is getting over the mental part and "re-wiring" your brain which the NRT can help, the physical or withdrawal part only takes a few days and the NRT may help shorten that. Anyway your at almost week on your quit-- keep strong.
  11. CA great job on your 2 months, keep it going and take a moment to reward yourself, you deserve it.
  12. Welcome aboard for this awesome journey. Congrats on your quit so far. Just to know the progress you see to this point even gets better so keep going. Lots of good people here that will be willing to help you along with this journey
  13. Busy plotting ---
  14. Lml -- welcome aboard, glad to have you along for this journey. Yes it is day by day but those days add up pretty quickly. I am 64 now and just quit a few short months ago (I went cold turkey). However you make your quit successful and make it work for you is good -- so long as you do not pick up another cig and light it up. It looks like you have the right attitude. Remember to use deep breathing techniques and drink plenty of cold water. Also come here to educate yourself, reach out to others, to have fun, and most importantly do the daily "NOPE" pledge -- it really does help. The celery stick thing, yes I was there but, at least it was a celery stick (and so many of those). You can do this
  15. Awesome post -- Many red flags I have already dealt with -- will keep bookmarked. Thanks so much for posting
  16. Filling the time -- I found that a challenge at first but now find it exhilarating and a sense of freedom to choose what I really want to do. Sunny you will get there and you will express joy after each crave knowing that you have won and getting better. You are doing well.
  17. Catlover -- Fantastic job job, keep it going and take time to enjoy the moment today
  18. Yeah Jack, 9 months down -- Good to see you are still staying strong
  19. Farmgirl -- welcome aboard on this journey. As you show how each of us succeeds in their quit is different and what works for them is what is important. Congrats on the 4 months and keep going.
  20. NOPE!!! And yes great job on the 3 months Cat Lover, this is a big day of your quit. When I hit 3 months I felt I was gaining some good control.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
