  5. As stated above do a lot of reading and research on this site, education yourself all you can about this addiction -- it will help and motivate you. I drank a lot of cold water and used deep breathing techniques (you can add an air cigarette -- a plastic straw cut to the length of a cigarette -- helps with the movement and the breathing). Also coming here every day, more if you have to, and doing the daily NOPE pledge -- it may seem hokey but it really helped me. And come here a lot, there are some really good people here though at times we can a bit quirky.
  6. Outstanding !! You have reached the Lido deck -- take time to reflect on the last year, celebrate and reward yourself well today!!
  7. Welcome aboard time4chang nice to have you along on this journey. As has been said coming here and doing the NOPE pledge and educating yourself about this addiction will help greatly. I found deep breathing techniques and drinking lots of cold water helpful. This can be done, it will take some effort but it can be done. Several months ago I was like you, though only with 44 years of smoking, and decided it was just time and I was definitely feeling the bad effects. I just came here every day and took it one day at a time and learned from these great people here. You can do this!

    Uh Oh

OK Linda -- Take a deep breath, you can do this. Having a smoke now in fact will solve nothing and very well lead to more stress and disappointment. I too took care of my mother during her final days thru hospice and my two brothers were no where to be found. I take solace in this in that I gave to my mother much like she gave to me when I was a child, yes the responsibility is great but so can be the reward. You are and have been doing this so in face of all the difficulties you are stronger than those around you. Be positive in this and in the end you will feel much better.
  10. 11, fantastic job Weegie. So hard to believe that you are only 1 month away from the Lido deck. I would remind you to take time to celebrate today but it looks like are doing just fine on that --- great job!!!!!!!!!
  11. Awesome job on the 3 month mark Jayhawk. Make sure you take time to celebrate today, you deserve it.
  12. Jet Black you made it the Lido deck, that is just awesome. I remember when I first quit you were at your 3 month mark and being a bit shaky on your quit. Your post then helped me prepare and get through the first weeks of my quit due to your reaching out here and your perseverance (thanks for that). Congrats and party heavy on the lido deck and make sure you reward yourself well!!!!!!!!!
  13. NOPE!!!!!!!!!
  14. Congrats Octain on that 9 month mark. As you said yesterday hard to believe it has been that long. Not far to the lido deck now!!
  15. NOPE!!!!!!!!!
  16. Congrats Joe, I am sure this one will get plenty of attention!!
  17. Wren, congrats on the 9 month mark (looks like we are in the same boat here). I too thought month 8 was a bit harder than expected but I knew that going in since I knew it would be a big trigger period of time but I made it through and looks like you made it through also -- great job and the lido deck is not far now!!
  18. ^^^^ Octain, completely agree with what you say, cannot believe I didn't sooner, but hey at least I am quit as of now. To everybody thanks and I could not have done it without your help. I have gotten through the worst time/season for triggers for me. I knew going in it might be tough during the early fall but I made it through so now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (or is it all the bright lights on the lido deck?). Now I have to go and do a little celebrating!!!
  19. Fantastic -- you are doing this and doing great!!
  20. NOPE!!!!!!!! especially after 9 months now --
  21. Coming here is one of the best things to do (good job on that) and post here often if needed. Take some deep breaths and drink some cold water -- always helped me. You can do this and you are doing this!
  22. CB Dave, just an fantastic achievement on the 3 years and thanks so much for paying it forward over the time -- many thanks!!
  23. Awesome job catlover, 8 months is a huge achievement. Keep the quit going and make sure you take time to celebrate.
  24. NOPE!!!!!!!!
  25. Great job on starting your quit. Remember to come here often to educate yourself, reach out to others, and to do the daily NOPE pledge (it really does help). If you have any questions or just want to talk things through coming here will be truly helpful.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
