  1. No doubt that Vaping is bad and the science is there to prove that fact. What is also disturbing is the marketing behind it. Cigarettes long ago were no longer allowed to be advertised, however that is not true for vaping since there are televised commercials. This also should be addressed because it only reinforces the idea that vaping is a safe alternative (which is not true). I am afraid so many others will be lost to nicotine at this point!!!
  2. Great job. Things do get a little easier but this can be done. Now it is mostly a mind game and to battle the craves -- which you can do. Keep it going strong and good news from the doctor.!!!
  3. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Congrats Potts, glad to see you are getting some time behind you -- awesome job and take some time to celebrate!!!!
  5. Well Abby at least you have been smoke free for almost 3 months -- that should help you with the cold that you have. Glad you have the doctors appointment you take it easy now and get better!!!!
  6. I keep the cutlery in both hands as I eat, I believe this all about culture how your family tree was raised. When I was stationed in Germany I was asked if I had German heritage since I used my cutlery much like they did, my grandmother came from Germany.
  7. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I also tried changing my routine but the biggest thing I always did when a trigger hit was to identify all the circumstances around the trigger to identify and to learn so that I could handle them. Also I had to learn the the farther into the quit the more "out of left field" that the triggers came from and that triggers come from anywhere. Learn to live with them and to conquer them -- it gets easier!!!!
  9. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Oh yes, quitting is a process and it takes time to go through that process. It takes a few weeks to get rid of that "foggy feeling" (though as said above it varies from person to person). After about 2-3 weeks you will begin to notice some positives, small and large, from quitting -- focus on those victories, they will carry you through until you feel close to "normal" and that will just sneak up on you and slap you in the face like it did me last fall. In short work through the process and celebrate each victory and each day and you will benefit greatly and see that it can be done!!!!
  11. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Dizzd, the toughest week is done -- Congrats, well done!!!!!
  13. Welcome aboard Ankush. Yes you can quit without a lot of support from family and friends. My family was kind of there the first week then I was basically on my own and I found this site, it provides most of the support you will ever need. Quitting is something you have to do for yourself not others so your strength comes from inside of you -- it is nice to have support from families and friends and you will receive some and people will be happy for you but in the end it is all about you and how you support yourself. Take the leap we will be here to support you as much as we can!!!!
  14. Awesome job on the 7 month mark Parsley, going strong now. Congrats and remember to take time and celebrate today!!!

  24. Welcome Solo glad to have you aboard for this journey. Looks like you have a good quit going there. I too was at 44 years before I quit a little over a year ago. Yes you will have a new normal to get used to but it is so worth it and it will get better. It must be tough to have your significant other still smoking but hopefully you can show the way. It is tough but it is doable and we are here to support you!!!
  25. Well done and it is so good that you got out, moved around some, and had a little celebration -- it really helps and you deserve it!!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
