  1. When I first started I would buy them from a machine at a Bay gas station in the little town which I lived. It was across the street from the church we went to on Wed night. They were $.50 per pack. I remember bitching when they went up to $.55

  3. I guess we’re doing good in the South. I changed brands according to price. About 40 bucks per carton. If I was conscious of my smoking I could *make* a carton last a week. Otherwise I smoked about a carton and a half per week. My wife’s are about $45 per carton. A carton will last her about a week and a half. Yeah, we smoked a car payment per month.

  11. Also, if I might add, try not to focus so much on the negative side effects of quitting and focus more on the positives. For instance, laying down on the pillow at night and not feeling the clatter in your lungs. Being able to laugh without the urge to cough. Taking really huge deep breath, again, without that urge to cough. The added energy you’ll get from not smoking. Trust me, it’s there… The money you’ll save. Good God… The time… This was huge for me for some odd reason. It doesn’t seem like much but you spend a ton of time on smoking. Don’t believe me? Quit… I dare ya. The absolute best thing we can do for ourselves is never start smoking. The second best thing we can do, is quit smoking.
  12. Sleeplessness, anxiety, irritability, shakes, foggy thoughts, irritability, the feelings of drowning, or claustrophobia, feelings of emptiness. Did I mention irritability? Taking dog walks helps me a lot. Sex, and showers also helps. Anything that you do that you did that didn’t/don’t involve smoking. The *easy* way to combat all these negative feelings is to smoke. But that IS not an option for me. You have to be smarter than the addiction. Reading and researching everything you can about the subject helps. You have to know how to deal with it. It’s an addiction, just like a drug addict. You pretty much just have to “man up“ and pull the trigger and make the decision to not smoke today. Get through today and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Withdrawl symptoms will not kill you. They pass, they always pass. Smoking cigarettes does nothing for me. On the contrary, they take away my money, my health and my time.

  21. Nope! I am a non-smoker. Cigarettes do nothing for me. They take away my time, my money and my health

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
