Increase Smoking Bans and Regulations
JB 883 replied to notsmokinjo's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Having a legal age to smoke never stopped anyone before. They could raise it to age 50 and it would matter not. Now I do not know about AUS but here in the USA, as smoking laws get more strict, they are loosening up on drinking and marijuana laws. Even though I do not smoke anymore, it still sucks to see they keep restricting tobacco. Two reasons - 1) People will just find something else unhealthy to do. 2) It demonstrates how easily rights can be taken away and instead of people fighting it, they applaud it. They forget their rights could be next. But of course, they are doing these smoking bans to help peoples' health. meanwhile loosening 420 and booze restrictions. Well cause neither one of those are harmful. -
When the millenials die off and their entire lives flash before their eyes...

Oh hell lust4life, lighten up! It is just an old meme, I do not think people use it maliciously. Would it help if it said, "...you are still a Trump supporter". (damn i hope that doesn't cause the feces to hit the air oscillator) OH FOLKS I got some good news too, especially for those who may be annoyed with me - I found a forum where people ask weird and stupid questions, I go there when i feel like being a troll and why i fit right in. So around here i might actually behave sometimes. Other than that, this thread is turning out to be a lot of fun Here are some good ones - Is that to say you would have been growing hair on your palms and suffering poor eyesight? I bet he "enjoyed" himself to pictures of Mama Cass. Stewie needs to think about the possibility of carpal tunnel. But you do not really know. He might be as celibate as a nun. I do not think they rub off any big O's. Ok, so umm, ARE nuns allowed to flick the bean? Always seems the case. Do stuff to help your health and here comes some other BS ailment. I mean damn, I have been quit for 9 months but about one month into my quit i was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I quit smoking cause i didn;t want to die from it but if my sugar kills me, so f'kin be it. BTW if that lady is in your other quit group or whatever group, tell her "kick ass" for being able to drop the habit even after 45 years. Oh yes, back in the day when "downloading" a song meant running to the radio to tape record a song you liked and HOPE you were not taping over some other good song. -
Thanks folks I guess by now, my lungs are repairing themselves? people sometimes talk about coughing up gross stuff, i have not experienced that yet, at least no worse than before i ever started smoking. I am not sure what to think there. The only down side to one year is that it will land the first week of October, which is when summer is completely OVER over. October is just a sucky month. Too bad i didn't quit during Spring of 2017. I guess by now I am into the "long term" effects of quitting. You know though sometimes when i dig out stuff that has been stored for a long time, it still smells of smoke. Not real bad but it is there.

One thing I can say about this forum - Minor disagreements happen but it is like traffic - people flip each other the bird and go on with their day. It doesn't turn into pages of bickering. So yeah, it is refreshing. I wish i were exaggerating about the dozen pages of arguing on the music forum. I don't know though. There is the heart-wrenching story of Caitlyn Tegart, a millenial who was euthanized some years ago when she went brain dead at age 12 and was confined almost entirely to her room and facebook. What the mom says around 1:03 made me cry uncontrollably. -

Come on now, someday that same guy might run for president. Well maybe not, he doesn't look like he will be doing ANY sort of running. When people wonder what that handsome man or beautiful woman in the RPG looks like in real life. Well, this might be close. First phonograph. Does that mean Edison was a hipster? Reci, here is the funny part - I visit one forum where that gif would cause at least a dozen pages of arguing over what the best turntable is. -
Vape is not legal to sell to people under 18 in the USA. However, it is partially marketed towards kids with it's candy flavors. With marketing, even if they are not selling directly to a demograph, companies still have ways of "reaching" them. As we know, age limits have only so much impedance on kid's ability to get things (like nicotine products). When they could actually advertise cigarettes, they did the same thing. The good news I suppose though - ALREADY there is evidence of society cracking down on vape. Some people think it smells good. To me it is like smelling antifreeze - yeah the scent is nice but you then realize it is the smell of poison.

You cannot even suggest that smoking "leafy weed" is bad news cause they will say "that is dumb assery" or whatever. What REALLY tripped me out is we have one member here who is always digging up these philosophical threads from years ago, who also tries to sound SO smart, but in one thread admitted to using weed. Like they are all about not smoking tobacco, but weed is alright. I do not personally care if someone replaces one burning plant with another, it isn't my lungs they are hurting. As far as vape - oh yes, there are organizations who are pushing the heck out of it and saying it is a stop smoking method. That IS often true, however, it is a lateral move from one bad habit to another. "Vape will help you quit smoking" is as much a fact as saying "You will find a husband on a dating site". What they leave out is the fact that it is someone else's husband. Quitting smoking by vaping, though a fact, is the not entire story. Some people just do NOT have the discipline to put away nicotine. But since it is "not as bad as smoking" then they are justified. The nicodemon is laughing his ass off every time someone thinks they are "quitting" by picking up vape. People who want to call themselves "quitters" need to drop the substitute lung pollutants and just QUIT. They need to quit listening to the lies that say, "Well, this and that is okay... it is not as bad as cigarettes". Otherwise, why not just take the cigarette back up and quit pretending to be a "quitter". Smokers (and tobacco users) will readily admit it is bad, deadly, gross etc. Vapers and pot heads will argue every excuse in the book.

Can't believe it. Almost 1.5 years down the drain.

My experience with smoking dreams, and it might be typical? - In the dream, smoking feels the way we imagine in waking life when we get hit with a crave. You know how we think it will be awesome (yet know better). In the dreams we are aware that we are relapsing but do not care, like it is no big deal. Upon wakening, there is worry and a rush of guilt like, "Did I give up my quit so easy? How could I be so stupid?" Once we wake enough to realize it was just a dream it is a relief. Strangely enough, it is the same kind of relief we felt as smokers when we lit up again. The good news though is that we do not have craves just because of a silly dream. So basically if someone does have a smoking dream, worry not because it won;t ruin your quit in any way. -
I can only imagine what the injuries were snd what it would be like hearing the news. I am guessing you are thinking stuff like, "what does it even matter if I smoke? F*** it, I am messed up anyways." Here is why it DOES matter - So far you likely dodged a bullet by quitting tobacco. Would you really want to go back to smoking and at some point in the future have some doctor explain that you have a smoking related illness? You know, personally I hate those little bastards, the cigarettes that is. They just screw up our health and make us stink to high heaven. They suck. The nicodemon sees you are weak and is trying to worm his way back in during this crucial time. Tell it to go back to hell and starve. You do NOT want to say in the near future, "Well i have this and that injury and on top of that i started smoking again, i wish i had not". You are 8 1/2 months into your quit. There is no reason to pick it back up. none.

I am not big into motivational speakers or "positive figures" because they speak all eloquent and intelligent and stuff but then it is found out later they were involved with human trafficking or some other vile action. My motivational quote when i find myself wanting a smoke is - No, screw that s***. By the time i get to the store, the craving will have passed anyways". And here is a motivational tear jerker, get ready for the slow-clap - People are going to die of smoking related illnesses. Let it not be me, but to be someone else who DOESN'T have the discipline to quit smoking.

My sister who is an ex smoker (quit probably 30 years ago) explained smoking dreams like no one on here has - She said it is like having the satisfaction of smoking without the consequences. I think some people who have never even smoked have smoking dreams sometimes. I know when I have them, it is like i am smoking a ton more than humanly possible. -
WARNING... HORRIFIC PICTURES... ONLY THE TRUTH INSIDE
JB 883 replied to DCCXXVII's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
WHEW! Just "doctored" photos of health problems of smokers. When it said "horrific pictures" I thought it was gonna be pics or Reci and Mrtitwank's latest romance session. Oh well, time for dinner. -
Chew is more poisonous, grosser, tastes worse, more offensive... AND it looks like someone is taking a dump out of their mouth.
-
Or instead of gums one could try chewing tobacco, the stuff that comes in a pouch. I promise this - you will never want to touch nicotine NOR tobacco again. It is vile and toxic like even the worst chain smoker cannot imagine.

More specifically, people that we hate but cannot avoid. Like a boss at work. The supervisor in my dept is pretty much the most despised person to ever set foot in the place and has been for years. It is so bad it is like this - You know when hated person shows up and people go, "Oh jeeze, IT is here". I think when she comes to work she goes, "Oh Jeeze, *I* am here". Like she even hates her own presence at work. When she calls off, things go smoother. We can work in peace, smile, maybe enjoy a laugh or two. Higher productivity, higher morale. All because when IT calls off, it is not in the way, not pissing people off, not walking around with that black storm cloud of misery hovering. It is like the second someone laughs or smiles, she steps around the G.D. corner with this scowl on her face like she caught you digging through her billfold. Might the f*** well just say, "There will be NO smiling or laughing during my watch!" Bitch. Now folks, hear this - when i first quit smoking, my biggest concern was, "OK, what happens when "it" pisses me off at work?" But "it" wasn't enough to cause relapse so I have NO concerns that anything else could. No sure how... But back to the point - With such people, do they know that everyone pretty much hates them? Do they know that if they fell off the face of the earth, people would say, "Good riddance, now we can work in peace". If they do know, do they enjoy the fact that their presence ruins everyone else's day? if so, why?
-
Yes. How many "quits" have been ruined because people thought "just one won't hurt"? I never understood why people would refrain from smoking for weeks or months then just give in. You have to decide for yourself if you are going to give in to tobacco again or not. If that pinch was ALL the tobacco you smoked since March 18th then personally i would say - don't beat yourself up but do stay away from it from now on. But if you have a habit of "sneaking in" tobacco very often, then it might be necessary to re-examine your "Quit". Tickers do not really matter in such a case. We each know if we have really stuck with "Quit" or not.

So Saturday my room mate and i went to an event downtown at a park. Probably a couple thousand people there, hanging out, walking around mostly naked, whatever. It was after our local "Pride" parade. At one point it started raining pretty hard and we had to evacuate the park. Anyways one guy close to us was talking to his friend and saying, "...I am in my underwear..." (he really was). because it was storming and starting to get a bit chilly. I thought, "I know that next time you will wear some damned clothes". I, for one, at least was wearing a see-though nylon skirt. Anyways so later it quit raining and festivities carried on. I saw this group of three young women smoking their cigarettes. I do not know, it just looked weird somehow. I told my room mate, "I cannot believe I carried on for 15 years doing that crap". So later we went to some pizza joint and outside was a smoking section. It was like, "yep, feed that addiction". Yep, if someone smokes, they must take time out to feed that silly habit. Cannot live too long without it. Glad i gave up that junk.
-
Yeah the longer one goes without it, the more it is forgotten. So what you are saying then is at your stage of Quit, the nicodemon doesn't even bother asking for a smoke cause it knows what the answer will be? I still think though that when you were doing triathlons even as a smoker, it probably didn't even do any damage. So, you are clean. No downside to not smoking? Funny, I was thinking about that the other day and it is true. It was the root of so many problems.
-
One thing that can cause restless foot or leg syndrome is when you have the rockin' pneumonia and the boogie woogie flu. And for weegie - it is LGBT pride month, so i think plenty of people are seeing, hearing, and thinking more about them. Some of them male strippers are sure smoking though.

Three month battle. Tough time. it could last a couple days. Make it through this trying time and this is the final big battle. Sometimes the three-month mark (or close to it) is the worst. Do not be one of the members around here who run into a rough patch only to give in and go back to smoking.
-
Can you imagine though when the nutty 1/2 dozen go to pick up Doreen? The bail officer will be like, "who in the Mother of F***s is THIS crowd of hooligans?" Side note - I think using this lady's photo on the web is prohibited because she just doesn't look psychotic enough. It won't be her herself showing up at your door since she is "relaxing" in a padded room. However, the web police might show up.
-
Oh yeah even months later, we tend to have thoughts or craves for a smoke but at this point our resistance to it is plenty strong. And just think, you are FOUR months past the three-month-mark battle. Well, see you at the 8-month celebration
-
Ain't it nice that at this point, the nicodemon doesn't even bother with tantrums anymore? It might shyly ask for a smoke but it already knows it will just get told to f*** off again? It is important to KTQ for two reasons - 1) no need to ruin one's health and waste money 2) Since Jo is now in charge of the celebrations dept, we cannot take smoking back up and give her an excuse to slack off posting milestones.
-
I forgot it had been so long. Where the heck did eight months go? I remember feeling proud when the 72 hour mark had passed. I do not really look forward to the one year mark and here is why - At that point summer will be over officially AND unofficially. I have no plans to smoke though. Anyways I thank you all
