Exmouth is flooded and apparently cut off, and here in Perth it's been raining for about 30 mins, no wind nothing just rain, it's lovely ... it's not cold, the rain is coming straight down it's not windy... still sat here in shorts and t shirt ... just loving the sound of the rain ...

I like that ... never heard it before ...we had one this morning lol ....
  6. You're so funny SueBeDoo, strangely enough I have no problem with snakes, I could count on 1 hand how many times I've seen them in the wild and that's after living here for 26 years, but when I have seen them they don't scare me. Yes, I agree with how far can you chuck them, when I'm instructing someone else how to relocate a spider it usually involves a lot more than what I did today, I've even had friends take them in their car's to a park or somewhere nice, yes I really have done that ... Mmmmmm, that screaming child is 22 years old and was smoking all the time I was trying to protect us lol ... Sue x
  7. usually I would have run out the house, but my spider would have still been there ... had no choice but to deal with it ... you'll be fine in December, they only start to come inside when it cools off, this is the first one I've seen inside for months and months ... where abouts in OZ are you heading for ?
  8. Thanks REZ, the only thing that daughter was good for was watching, according to her our spider took off like the clappers ... possibly trying to avoid the plastic pot above him ... lol

  10. The cardboard and plastic pot are still out there ... daughter asked me why I slammed the door, did I think it was going to run back in, the door was shut before my spider hit the ground lol

  13. The Hunstman Spider .... sitting having a coffee with my daughter this afternoon, suddenly her eyes grow to the size of dinner plates, I immediately know we have an unwanted visitor and that daughter is going to be no help whatsoever with the eviction of our univited guest ... These spiders are enormous, now I'm a huge animal lover, but hate spiders with a passion, I'm terrified of them, but I don't like to kill them, usually there will be someone here to help but today just two teriffied females ... anyone with a phobia will understand this, my heart rate would have doubled, I swear I could hear it beating, I had to practice deep breathing just to work out how I was going to catch it (usually I would have picked up a smoke at this stage, 5 mins of smoking and coming up with a plan) I've now got my large plastic container daughter is looking for a suitable piece of cardboard to slip between the wall and the container. Once I'd trapped it I had to take a minute or two before moving onto the next stage, which is slipping in the cardboard, all the time the spider is running around the plastic tub, cardboard done, move onto the next stage which is getting the whole lot outside, once I got to the back door I just threw the whole lot and shut the door, daughter is supervising and screaming all this time, which did nothing for my nerves. I think in the past a spider episode would have taken at least three ciggies to get over it, the one before, and then at least two after to help calm me down, possibly even more. But today I did all of this without a ciggie ... I was truly amazed at myself, I was so scared I was shaking like a leaf afterwards but I didn't smoke. Even re-living this has increased my heartrate again, but I'm so proud of myself I had to tell you all ... I know this isn't eveyones idea of a stressful moment but for me it was enormous ! Sue x

  22. Good morning from OZ, first up as usual. I'm very happy to be saying its a big NOPE for me today :)
  23. Here in Oz, there has been no smoking indoors for many years, they have now introduced no smokiing to many outdoor areas, including alfresco dining, some beaches, sporting venues, the zoo, the list goes on, I think it will get to to stage where you can't smoke anywhere but you're own home, and look out if it blows over the fence lol
  24. Hi Everyone, Too many comments here to reply to individually. Bandito some of what you said is very accurate, we have a very unusual lifestyle and it's not always easy to stay on track when hubby is home. However having said that last year I managed nine months, and before that another nine months, several 6 months and dozens of months here and there. So I do know it's doable, maybe I need to try something different, because it seems as though I am a habitual quitter (is there such a thing ?) I truly have been doing this since I was 16 years old. I was reading Amy's post, and found it so easy to relate to. Someone on the other site made a post that I also found I could truly relate to, they seemed to be a 'habitual quitter' and had gotten to the stage of saying what's the point in another quit when it will only eventually lead to another relapse. This to many people may sound very defeatest but I truly understand what they mean. It's unusual for me to find someone who seems to be the same as me with their addiction, I thought I was the only one that had quit so many times !!! Maybe I should pop back and see if they want a quit buddy ? lol I suppose that's why this time I tried not to beat myself up too much, not because I felt defiant but because if I beat myself up it just adds to the feeling of hopelessness. If I were to add up the time spent smoking and the time spent not smoking during my smoking life I think they would be pretty even. I cannot ever remember a year when I would have smoked from January through to December without quitting. I would be interested to hear from anyone else that has had as many failed quits as me, how does it make you feel ? Once again, thankyou to you lovely people for the support, advice and encouragement, it really is appreciated. Sue x
  25. Hi Amy, I've had to start again today it's the 23rd of April here. When you wake up in the morning it will be the 23rd for you as well. We could have the same quit date - what do you think ???

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
