  8. I've just had a really strange experience. I had an awful nightmare last night that kept me awake for quite a while afterwards. Hubby phoned me at 8am to say his flight would be delayed, he woke me up, usually I would have got straight up, but because I didn't sleep much last night I decided to go back to sleep. I woke up about half an hour ago feeling terrible. Tired, bad mood, my stomach looks like it's 7 months pregnant, and to top it all wanting a smoke for the first time in nearly two weeks. I've just sat with my coffee feeling miserable, but then I started reading on here. Reading some of the messages sent to me overnight. Reading some of the new threads, in particular the one about Paul's friend :( . Just by chance I posted my own SOS last night, so I've sat and read that, boy did that help ! Half a cup of coffee later, and 20 mins reading I'm feeling much better, the desire to smoke has vanished. This is the first time I've tried this. Everyone says come on here and read, post an SOS, but when that urge comes on sometimes it's so strong you think to yourself nothing is going to change this mindset, well to all the newbies out there it can work if you let it. I just proved it. I'm now going to have another cup of coffee, another read and plan the wonderful day ahead of me :P Sue 1 Ciggies 0 that's a win for me ! Sue x

mmmmmmm ... funny you should say this ... but the darling children have offered to make me a batch with a warning attached ... lol
  12. P.S I think it's awesome that you both quit :)
  13. This is completely understandable ... we all have to approach the quit process in our own way ... I still need to be here as much as my time allows, but of course once I become more confident like you I would expect to be here less and less, but would still like to think that eventually I will be able to help newbies, as you have done ... some of the advice I have been given is that in the early days be here as often as possible and read, read, read, which is what I have been doing. I suppose it's a bit like when our children grow up and leave the nest ... we hope they are educated well enough to deal with the outside world ... lol Sue x
  14. this is going into my 'in case of emergency file' thankyou tiffany x

  17. If you didn't want to quit you wouldn't be here would you ? ... great that you are still here Sue x
  18. Soozie ... you've been doing this since you were 16 so you do know that if you light up that one smoke, whether it be in 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or 1 year you know you will have to go through all this again ... remember how you're beloved Mum died when you were only 30 ? remember how your dear brother died 2 years ago at the age of 49, younger than you are now ? remember how your other brother is so happy that you no longer smoke, remember how broken he was when he sat with our brother when he passed away ? remember how scared you are that hubby has been diagnosed with the first signs of emphysema and you're scared of the future ? remember that's how you're children feel about you remember how bad you felt two weeks ago when you had to tell your friends on here that you had smoked for 4 days over easter ? do you remember how especially bad you felt about letting Doreen down ? remember how great you felt the other day spending $180.00 on makeup ? remember how great you feel now that you can lay in bed dozing for an hour or more because you don't have to get up and smoke ? rememer how great you feel that you don't wheeze anymore ? remember how great you felt yesterday when all the smokers had to leave the table and find somewhere to smoke and you didn't ?   remember how great you felt yesterday when you could kiss and hug your friends from England knowing that you didn't stink? :air_kiss: If you still smoke after reading this, then you really are a lost cause :aggressive:
  19. Hi Jackie, excellent post thankyou ... I think I will print this off and put it with my collection ... just in case of emergency and I can't get to the board :) Sue x

My 50th birthday 70's disco party is fast approaching ... invites done and sent out the music list is done (thanks to lots of help from my non smoking friends here!) 70's cocktails list is done and tested ! decorations are bought disco ball, lights, bubble machine all hired I'm now working on the food. We're having a cold buffet/finger food. I've come up with some of the usual everything on a cocktail stick that was pretty posh and fancy in the 70's lol. Mini quiches. Curried eggs. Any ideas ? I'm struggling a bit ...
  23. Hi Action ... doesn't look like much money when you see how much I've saved and that's in less than two weeks ... shocking eh ?
  24. Hey Shazza ... yes I'm feeling pretty damned good at the moment ... on top of the world lol Sue x

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
