  1. MLMR, the 1st day, 1st week, 1st month milestones were the hardest.....for me, at least! It was as if my brain wouldn't stop obsessing about placing a poison stick in my mouth and lighting it on fire!!!! Keep reminding yourself "one day at a time", meditate and use deep breathing to calm yourself down. It takes all our strength to get past those obsessive thoughts in the beginning of this journey ...but as the days add up those thoughts will become weaker and weaker. If you can... go for a 15 minute power walk, or take a shower, or take a nap, or brush your teeth....it will help!!
  2. Congrats, MLMR! Getting past that first month is awesome!!!!! Celebrate the milestone and KTQ! ?

  11. Thanks for bumping, Saz....sometimes it takes getting riled up to get you to realize why you need to quit and stay quit!! ?
  12. I used the patch to quit and I started with the 21mg and stayed on that for a bit longer than recommended in the instructions...then stepped down to the 14mg also for a bit longer than the instructions recommended and then to the 7mg for recommended length of time and then that was it! No more patches....had a stash of lozenges and gum if needed but regular gum works just as well! Just don't put any flaming poison sticks in your mouth! ?

  14. I start cardiac rehab in 2 weeks! ? I have been a slug for last 5 months which is so unlike me but had to follow dr's orders....I started gradually getting back into my power walking since Monday so I don"t embarrass myself during my cardiac rehab assessment session.....

  17. Oh, yes! How about flicking ash out car window while driving and you lose your grip on the flaming poison stick and it comes sailing back into the car...onto the back seat!!! Ugh!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
