I had an uncle that smoked and he threw a lit cig out the window as he was driving down the street he lived on (my family lived 2 doors down). It flew into the back seat of the car and smoldered for awhile, I guess....then it burst into flames in the middle of the night! Neighbor called fire department. According to neighbor, the FD said they got there just in time before car blew up! Down at my house, we were all fast asleep and were shocked to see the big mess and the burnt hulk of his car sitting in driveway...and the stench of it all!

So sorry to read that your wife has passed due to lung cancer.....I have a friend just recently diagnosed with it...and it is something those of us with long smoking histories will have to be vigilant about by getting the low-dose lung scan every year. Read everything you can here and check out the Joel videos...and participate in the forums...you will find support for yourself here and help support others on this journey!

Today is major gardening day for me! Let's see....put the sprinkler on in the front yard...in the backyard have a hose running to add water to my pool as it's getting low due to no rain in over a week now. Planting more flowers in my pots. Need to do some serious weeding and try to tackle the poison ivy running rampant in the back of my shed!!! Planting fancy marigolds, coleus, begonias, geraniums today.... The Elephant Ears, Caladiums, Dahlias are starting to come up now....so fun to watch them grow!

Welcome aboard the QT, Richard, and congratulations on the 18 day quit! Excellent advice from all of those above. I will add that lots of deep breathing and drinking cold water helped me over some of the beginning hurdles and playing solitaire on my phone ...a lot!! Read and watch the Joel videos and then do it again to educate yourself about this addiction! One Day At A Time!
