Oh I'm finding it so hard right now :( I want one more cig The thoughts are consuming me I know I can't have one and will do everything I can to stop thinking about it !!! How long does it take to get to the point where you don't want one and don't think about it...3 months???

  6. I'll take in some sea air breaths for you Doreen :)
  7. I am very lucky...I live at the beach in a beautiful part of the world. Just went for a very long walk along the beach & breathed in lovely sea air...cleansing for the lungs. I used to come home after a walk & light up! NOPE!!!
  8. I needed to read that. NOPE Not on the table
  9. Yes, they are still full of tar & toxins. Still smoke in the lungs
  10. What are thoughts on herbal tobacco?? Logic tells me its not a good idea...the action of smoking, inhaling smoke and possibly nicotine in herbal tobacco as well??

  12. Thank you...really appreciate the support & encouragement from you all
  13. What a gruesome thought...15 years from now if I had not quit... This is a good way to look at it to make us more determined to stick with our quit!!
  14. Oh OK, thanks for the warning. What is DGL liquorice?
  15. Yes,I've been using bicarb for heartburn for years,it just wasn't enough for acid reflux. The reflux has started to get better each day. I recently bought some liquorice & having a few pieces each day...yum! I have turned my home into a drug rehabilitation unit :) Doing all the right things & biding my time until this quit gets stronger than the nicotine monster
  16. Yes, its very encouraging. Its been such a bumpy ride over the past 3 weeks. Battling bouts of depression at the moment and working on my thoughts to stop it from getting worse
  17. She suggested Gaviscon for acid reflux & its helping a lot
  18. A year ago, my doctor picked up that I had high blood pressure & I've been on meds since. Even on meds its remained quite high. Doc tested again 2 days ago & for the first time for a year, my blood pressure read perfect! After lots of other tests, Doc picked up high blood sugar levels, high cholesterol & irregular heart readings. None are dangerously high, getting more tests done but doc isn't overly worried. All of the above would just keep getting worse if hadn't of quit at this point of time. I mentioned the acid reflux, diarrhea since quitting. She assured me its from detoxing after being a smoker for so long & the symptoms will gradually fade. She suggested to have two tablespoons of full fat Greek yoghurt for the diarrhea, I tried it & it works :)
  19. Getting rid of all tobacco & anything to do with was the first thing I did on monday morning. I have smokers all around me where I live and work. I look at smokers faces & I can see a certain look...a pasty yellowish skin. Of course, I look like that too. I would love to have a healthy glow in my skin rather than a pasty unhealthy skin ;)
  20. Jigsaw is a good idea...will see what the library has. Ever since the start of my quit, my head feels like its in the clouds, can't concentrate & really tired. I guess that's normal while my body is detoxing??
  21. Yes this addiction is definitely stronger than me...I need help with it I have nothing to prove to anyone except to myself I know I can do this What a horrible addiction it is

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
