  1. So THAT'S how you got your name! I'm here. Still standing.
  2. Excellent job, Wren! You're 1/3 of the way to a full year!
  3. Congratulations, Marie! One month is wonderful!
  4. 30 minutes on the elliptical yesterday morning 30 minutes on the snooze button this morning
  5. No one ever said: "Here! YOU take my winning lottery ticket. I insist!"
  6. Congratulations T2B! You're doing great!
  7. Wee Fluffy, you birthed a new way of living! Congratulations!
  8. John, your quick jump back onto the train is a testament to the fact that a smoke free life really IS better! You missed it and now you're back. This was a great decision on your part and the story is also a wake up call to the rest of us. Thanks for your honesty.
  9. JO, you are absolutely KILLING this quit! Love your style and quick witted posts! Congratulations on your 5th monthiversary! Here's to many many more. Keep laughing!
  10. WooHoo, Sunny! You're a champ! Congratulations on your first and most important week. This is a HUGE accomplishment!
  11. No workouts M-Th. I'm still on Whole30- today is day 20 (of 30) and this weekend my energy level has finally returned to normal: Friday: 3 hours at the gym- Zumba, Combat, Barre Today: 1 hour dance aerobics.
  12. Yes, indeed- look at you! You're forming all the right habits and keeping a positive outlook which to me is he key to success. Yes, there are times when it's hard these days but the thing that helped me most was to remember that the only way to conquer those feelings was to NOT smoke and I also did anthropomorphize the nicodemon and would hit him over the head with a club every time he showed up. He would scream out in pain and eventually get up again but each time he got up, he'd be weaker and slower to rise.
  13. Wee fluffy, you're a rare breed indeed having been able to eat whatever you want and your weight staying stable at a place you're comfortable. It sounds like you've earned those extra pounds and all you'll need to do is cut back on the doughnuts and whatever else extra you've been eating and you'll get back to your fighting weight. But I implore you, please don't do any drastic dieting. You've got a healthy metabolism and it would be a shame to screw it up. Dieting will do that! As you've probably seen, it's very normal to gain some when you quit the smokes so don't panic. Your weight will level out again- just don't keep compensating for something (cravings) that's not even there anymore. As far as exercising goes, there are great benefits to it but as long as you're active, you'll be fine. In my experience, weight is so much more about what you eat than how much you exercise.
  14. NOPE- no smoking and no playing with platypuses!
  15. Congrats Huntressed! 10 months is a 10!!!
  16. Congratulations on your quit, Rusty and kudos to you for quitting when you’re retired. My mom did the same thing when she retired. She had not smoked at work (the last few years anyway) and she just just knew if she didn’t quit she’d be chain smoking. Yes, it was hard but today she’s got 18 years smoke free and she’s going to be 86 in July. If she hadn’t quit, she wouldn’t be in great health like she is and she may not even have lived this long. Yes, today is hard but the rewards are endless. Keep your eye on the prize. Your freedom and improved health is priceless.
  17. Oh dear Pumpkin. I'm so sorry about all of it. You deserve better. I hope you'll come around soon to realizing you deserve to be good to yourself too and get back on this train.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
