  2. WTG, Claire! Thanks for leading the way to the 1-year mark. Congratulations!
  3. OK a good weekend again: Friday- 30 minutes Zumba, 45 minutes kickboxing. 45 minutes spinning, 16,000 steps Saturday- 1 hour dance aerobics, 15,000 steps Today just a 1 mile walk, 6,000 steps so far.
  4. Great job, pumpkin! Congratulations on your beautiful quit!
  5. Welcome back from your trip Gordo and congrats on your quit. There will be ups and downs but as time goes by the ups get higher and more frequent as the downs get less profound and further in between overall. What helped me in the early months was to remember "You're not feeling like this because you quit; you're feeling like this because you smoked. The only way to permanently eliminate these feelings is to never ever ever smoke again." NOPE pure and simple. Keep the faith, Gordo. You're well on the road to freedom! best, peacetrain
  6. Congratulations, MissDixie!! I love seeing your anniversaries pop up. For selfish reasons of course but also, I'm so happy for you. We're really doing those!
  7. WooHOO, Duchess! You've got the seat of honor and all eyes are upon you for your comments on your glorious 1yr anniversary.
  8. WTG, Jon! Hope you're doing well!
  9. Not at all! It was ecstatic. Until it hurt me. Then it wasn't so ecstatic but it was still awesome (in the true meaning of the word).
  10. Your posts in this whole thread are spot on, Octain. It has taken me a while to be proud of my quit but I'm finally there and, like you, I'm proud of everyone here 'cause we're beating this. Yay for us!
  11. My husband and I went a few years ago and stayed in a really nice b&b, went to the Wright museum, drove down to the end and back, ate some good food and enjoyed the feeling there. The one thing I came home with that I didn't expect was a badly scraped knee and shin from getting thrown repeatedly down and dragged onto the ocean floor by the incredibly rough surf. It was funny at first but after a while it got a little scary especially after a few times when I really had a hard time getting up and when I did, my leg was bleeding pretty badly. The people are really friendly and laid back. I can see why you love going back there. have a great time again, Joe!
  12. Nothing is ever ready to be eaten. Why do horses sleep standing up?
  13. Beautiful quit, Marti! Congratulations! Enjoy your victory!
  14. Lisa you’re doing so great. You’re such an inspiration! Boo, you’re a superhero. Me, I tried a 20-minute “Zumba Strong” intensive on YouTube. Pretty challenging and fun!
  15. Used to be trying Time now to live differently Just be- no effort
  16. WooHoo! Thanks, MQ!!
  17. Sheesh, Boo. Your easy days would kill mere mortals! Keeping to the early to bed early to rise mantra. 30 minutes on the elliptical this morning. Instead of the usual 3 miles, I got to 3.22, which doesn't seem like a big difference but I was trying to go a little faster and it was definitely more effort than the .22 would reflect.
  18. I'm so sorry you had such a harrowing experience. You are right though... smoking is risky behavior. As addicts, we tune out of the risks so we can continue smoking. Thanks for your post- Such a wake-up call to everyone to be vigilant about our health even after quitting. Best wishes, PeaceTrain
  19. Beazel! This is fantastic! Great respect to you for your victorious year!
  20. WTG Max! What a fantastic accomplishment!
  21. Congratulations! What a solid quit you've got going!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
