Not sure where everyone else lives, but here well, you wouldn't have to quit smoking anymore... -

For anyone who has never "dipped" imagine chewing gum , pick a flavor, now imagine the tingle of your foot falling asleep, but it's your gums, now make it sting a little, now toss your cookies.... that was my 1 time experience about 7 years ago. That was an easy "never again"

Okay so smoking = bad. Quitting = good. Go see a doctor, tell them you feel weird, lousy, whatever, let them check you for everything under the sun.1 of 2 things will happen. 1. You will find out that there is some kind of not great issue, that you have to deal with for now, but likely will be ok with time. 2. You have nothing physically wrong with you, just never ever ever smoke again and you will be way better off for it. Either way, NOT smoking has never killed anyone that I'm aware of, so quitting is most certainly NOT BAD FOR YOU!!! Now, I have anxiety, and unlimited data on a superb network on a device that fits in my pocket. I am a 3:30 a.m. Google induced paranoid wreck, that hasn't smoked in 416 hours and 34 minutes (but who's counting) so, you can do it too

Thank you again all. So, one guy at work quit the same time as me, no we didn't plan it, or talk about it, just stopped smoking around the same time, I think he's a day or 2 ahead, but he started dippin (chewin, spittin, wherever your from) which I always though was disgusting, yes I have tried it (years ago), dont have the stomach for it. So the 1 remaining smoker, I noted today I hadn't seen him smoke in a couple days. I'm debating wether I should bring it up tomorrow or just leave him alone not smoking. But I digress, thanks again all

The local shop mixes the "juice" on site (while you stand there and watch). They have these jugs with basically a novel's worth of warnings, that are labeled the incredibly long technical name for nicotine and other junk they mix in. Also, with nicotine, if you get a drop or so on your skin, you will likely see adverse effects (bruise, rash, sick feeling, etc) which makes sense considering a drop of straight nicotine would likely kill you. Anyway, I bought a $30 time occupier, if I'm absolutely restless and bored stupid, I will pace back and forth with it in hand. It's been a week, I have not charged it, nor have I refilled it. I think I used it maybe 3 times including the how to demo in store. 0 nicotine, non tobacco flavor. I'm not promoting it, it's a crutch, I know that. So is the single cigarette and lighter that's been at my desk for almost 3 weeks unsmoked (yay!) It's there if I need it, and I don't need it. Individual results may vary. You may vary well get hooked on vaping, personally, I think it looks stupid and OCD (legit, I've been evaluated) will not allow me to vape in front of people, cuz it looks like your chewing on a pen, or kids walkie talkie depending on what you get, and that looks freakin stupid.

Look at how long tabaccy was used before we finally admitted it wasn't good for us. We can look at it 2 ways; millions of years ago, man became man. Discovered fire, didn't do crap for millions of years. Or a more biblical way, God created man, man made tools, houses, cities, whatever, then didn't do crap until the 1800's save for style changes. We have come further in the past 150 years than we did for however many years you believe we existed before that. So I give it til 2020 before we have a legit yay or nay on this. In any case, you can get 0 nicotine "juice", it may not be good for you, but as far as we know TODAY, its at the least, not AS bad for you... if it stops you from smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipe, what have you, then I think it's a good thing and you can quit vaping too.

Also thanks again everybody. I feel like I can possibly post/reply in a helpful fashion now. Not that I'm in the clear, or an expert by any means, but like I have some constructive input that's not based off something I read.

Make it 2 weeks!!! Walked in the grocery store, that area between the 2 doors was filled with the familiar smell... I'm happy, though somewhat dumbfounded (I think that's a word) as my first thought was disgust. I never liked the smell of some cigarettes, or the taste of others, I was pretty brand dedicated. Come to find out, the guy smoking just outside the door had a pack of one of my go to blends... weird, but I'm not complaining.

Thank you everybody, I know I'm a little late responding, it's been a busy week. The odd/disconnected feeling and general discomfort are noticably less. Only felt the "need" a couple times, and only when I get worked up about something. Haven't given in. Guy at work (only 1 in the building) smokes, the smell makes me a little sick, and a little nostalgic, but mostly sick.

Thank you all. In about 5.5 hours it'll be a solid week. I actually slept last night and didn't wake up with the numb/weak limb feeling. I've been looking around and it's good to see that people are supportive without the added negativity - the "yeah my friend felt like that it's normal, except you might also have malaria" or what have you. Also, went and got checked out yesterday. Xray, ekg, blood tests, all the fun stuff they do when you say chest anything (pain, tightness, discomfort, etc). Not dying, which is nice to know.

Good evening everyone, I've been reading a lot on here and it's been way more helpful than all the sites just repeating the same half dozen symptoms and timelines over and over. I've got a lot of stuff I want to type, it's a long story, but I'll try to keep it short for now (it probably won't be) I cut way back like 1.5 to 2 months ago. Last satursay I decided I was really gonna quit. I had a lovely 5 a.m. smoke last Sunday, an anxiety inducing 6:30 pm smoke, then Monday an annoyed at work 2 pm smoke that I got about half way through before basically I just said I don't wanna do this anymore. I have anxiety issues. It was a seemingly random occasional attack a couple times in a couple years, that evolved into a general feeling of crapiness. Basically stress that wasn't dealt with well. When they happened I was a part time hypochondriac now working on full time, largely due to the internet. Search "nicotine withdrawal" for every 1 semi useful thing, there's a dozen things saying you have heart desease or thyroid cancer, maybe malaria, I don't know. So I'm on the panic channel all the time, sometimes there's commercials and I can relax a little. On the plus side, I'm so preoccupied with what's gone horribly wrong with me that I haven't had time for a craving. Btw, i had vitals checked, in the midst of a panic attack and chest pain. BP, temp, O2 levels, all good... yes, your mind is great at screwin with you. Also, I'll be getting checked more in depth, first attack a couple years ago I thought I was having a heart attack or something. Blood tests, EKG, all kinds of expensive stuff, nothing physically wrong. Also, I realize this is a stop smoking board, not an anxiety bored, but anxiety is a potential side effect and the internet is great at inducing it.
