  1. I used to think of that pack of cigs in my mouth but not lit, just cramming 20 raw unlit cigs in my mouth and I could imagine the awful taste and the way every bit of the moisture in my mouth would be gone and I couldn't swallow and I would be gagging and retching..... Aversion therapy.
  2. Hi Hermine. Glad to have you join us.
  3. It's good to hear from you Novo, even if it is bad news. Glad to hear that you realize that smoking will not help anything in your life, it will just make it worse in the long run. KTQ! And sending good vibes your way.....
  4. You go girl! You are strong and you are committed and you are disciplined and you are totally on board with NOPE and you know that anything you may feel today is fleeting, but being quit is a wonderful forever.
  5. I also remember lying in bed trying to fall asleep through my rattling and wheezing - not to mention the all-day smoker's cough.....awful. Whatever you have to go through today, it will be worth it later. Breathing normally is a glorious thing. You deserve this and you can do it.
  6. Good morning. I pledge NOPE today.
  7. Hi Rusty. Tell yourself that you are not "trying to quit" again, but that you are by golly, definitely, not-taking-any-prisoners, absolutely, unequivocally, beyond-any-doubt, categorically, no-ifs-ands-or-buts, unmistakably, decidedly, surely and without fail going to quit and quit for good. (thesaurus) Smoking is simply no longer an option in your life. So success will be yours. You can do this! Welcome aboard.
  8. Way to go Buck - you are on your way now! Congratulations, and keep up your great work.
  9. Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery Roz.
  10. I gave up too Beazel! I do not want to take away from this QT, because I am so grateful to have this welcoming place with (most of) my old friends here.....but we lost such an unbelievable wealth of motivational and inspirational content with the demise of QSMB. Seriously, I could cry with missing some of the essays that got me through my first weeks and months. Essays that I would love to link to for newbie quitters. Essays and threads that I know would help them. I have spent several hours with the Wayback Machine/QSMB. I haven't been able to access much.
  11. For reasons I still don't understand, but am completely grateful for: in the early days of my quit, with all the reading and researching I was doing, I was able to totally absorb and understand the concept of "NOPE". We addicts have to learn - and live - NOPE for the rest of our lives. I accept this. I believe this. I intend to live this. Well, there's also the concept of "you smoke, you die". I use this too, because I think it's true, for me. My breathing was for shite, for years. I don't dare go back.
  12. You are not a stranger anymore Sunny. You are (1) a fellow quitter; and (2) a full member of this quitting community/family. No one else in the world is gonna understand what you are going through better than us. We want you to succeed. We know you CAN succeed. Hang onto your discipline and keep posting.
  13. Good job Sunny, I'm happy you made it through another day smoke free. I'm like Weegie, in my early months I just read and read and read, hours a day, anything and everything I could find about quitting. It relieved the boredom and gave me ammunition in the fight. There's a lot of educational and motivational stuff to be found here and all over online.
  14. You are an inspiration to us all Phoebe! Congratulations.
  15. Way to go Jules! You've worked hard to reach 5 months quit and I hope you celebrated your accomplishment. Congratulations.
  16. Wow KT, 7 months!!! Keep up the great work.....and congratulations.
  17. Eight months is fantastic work Grund! Congratulations.
  18. I would agree with Whispers that edibles would be the way to go. We have to break all those old habit brain pathways that made us think smoking was pleasurable. We have to learn as an absolute truth: Don't Set Things on Fire and Put Them in Your Mouth.
  19. If you have to leave the party Sunny, just leave. Your quit is fragile and won't be there tomorrow if you give in. Your friends will always be there for you. Breathe deep. Walk around the block. Or make your apologies and leave. Whatever you need to do to not smoke. You can do this.
  20. Hi Novo. It's sad that your life has taken it's recent turns for the worse.....but it's very happy that you are working hard to turn things around. Quitting smoking will definitely be a huge positive influence on you (I can't begin to tell you how much better my life is as a nonsmoker, after smoking heavily for 42 years). Read, watch videos, and educate yourself all you can about the addiction. This community has a wealth of information and support for us. Welcome aboard.
  21. Good morning. I pledge NOPE for today.
  22. Good morning. I pledge NOPE today.
  23. Have fun Buck. You don't need smoking in your life to have fun.
  24. Good morning (LATE morning - I've had no internet connection for ALMOST 4 HOURS!!! IT'S BEEN AWFUL!!!). I pledge NOPE for today.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
