  1. Congratulations Gigi. Enjoy this special day!
  2. Congratulations Nicole. This calls for a special celebration!
  3. Never take the bait when it’s coming from a baiter
  4. Congratulations Jo! 5 months is amazing!
  5. Climbed mountain nearly 8400’ yesterday. Killer hard! Pic shows me at rescue box 2 (about 6000’). Have to admit I was a little pissed off that Boo had apparently beat me to it.
  6. Good job TS. Something miraculous is already happening. You've driven nicotine from your body and you're fast approaching one week smoke free. Massive kudos. Between you and your doc, you'll figure out what the best course is to keep this quit going. You can do it.
  7. I say it's okay to be a little pissy the first few months. You're brain is undergoing a massive detox and irritability is a common symptom. It's a lot more acceptable than continuing to poison yourself. Things will eventually level out and you may even find that you become more calm in the long run.
  8. Welcome clarosa. Self doubt is pretty common in the early going. I know that I had to get really mad at smoking and the terrible things it was doing to my mind and body in order to combat it. When cravings or uncertainty crept in I would say "F%@k you smoking! I'm stronger than you and worth the fight. After a while, the cravings come to realize that they're not going to win and start to diminish. You're right that you can't regulate smoking or just have one as a reward. Stick around here and learn all you can. I'm sure you'll find there are many people who want to support you. Congrats on tackling day one!
  9. Sketti - Yes Smoking - NOPE
  10. 6 months is a BIGGIE. Congrats GITW!
  11. Way to go Huntressd! Congratulations.
  12. Welcome Novo. Between quitting drinking and quitting smoking I'd say you're a pretty amazing person making some giant improvements in your life. The benefits aren't always easy to see in the beginning, but they do eventually happen and they'll change your life for the better by leaps and bounds. Keep strong and positive.
  13. Hang in there Rusty. One week is just around the corner. It is precisely because these early days are so difficult that the reward is so meaningful.
  14. Good on ya Pheebs!
  15. Very sorry to hear that you started smoking again. I know you say you're looking for support and don't want to be lectured. In my mind that would be giving you carte blanche to smoke because life is really tough right now. I truly hope you get through this difficult time and come to realize that quitting smoking was a wonderful gift to yourself and you deserve that gift now, more than ever. Bonne chance.
  16. Rozuki Hope you’re back to full strength and health soon.
  17. Congratulations JAM. 10 months is terrific!
  18. nope
  19. Congrats PT. Both you and your quit are amazing!
  20. Amazing achievement Claire.......congratulations!
  21. Thanks all for acknowledging this "special" day for me. Next one I'm excited about is day 1748. Seriously though, every day without a smoke is a day worth celebrating. P.S. You passed the test Jo.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
