  1. Great! Are those your babies? If so, I'll bet they're glad mom stopped smoking.
  2. Hi Linda Crabbiness is acceptable….smoking is not. Let’s start by helping you get a profile photo. Hopefully you have one you want to use in the photo library on your device. · Go to the top of the page on Quit Train, and in the upper right-hand corner you’ll see a small circle with the letter “L” in it. That’s your current default photo. Click on it. · You’re now on the home page for Linda Thomas. There’s a long rectangular box at the top that has the circle with the “L” in the lower left-hand corner. You’ll see a little box (there’s a silhouette of a mountain and sun). When you hover over that box it says “Profile Photo”. Click that. · You now click on the black box that says “Choose Single File”. This should bring up your photo library. Choose the photo you want for your profile. At this point it will allow you to shift or center the photo within the borders. · Click “Save” and you’ve got your profile pic. · If you go back to the first step you’ll also see a box that says “Cover Photo”. This allows you to choose a background picture that is visible when others check out your profile. Good luck!
  3. Hang in there Nikki. For many people it seems to get worse before it gets better. All kinds of annoyances seem to pop up: sleeplessness, trouble concentrating, irritability. Those are all temporary. Just remember that the reward beyond the difficulties is amazing and beneficial beyond anything you can imagine. You're doing great.
  4. Throw on a tutu and celebrate! Congrats on your big day.
  5. Orange shirt....hanging off the second boxcar.
  6. Tossing in nearly 25,000. Where’s the shoe polish? I singed my eyebrows!
  7. Hi Linda I’m pretty sure that most people ready to take that very first step of quitting feel a heightened sense of anxiety. But for me, the bolting out of bed in absolute panic due to irregular breathing far outweighed the overblown anxiety I thought I’d feel from quitting. Not having nicotine force me to drop everything and everyone to feed my addiction every 20 minutes actually reduced my anxiety and gave me a sense of freedom and accomplishment. Hope you’ll be able to realize those feelings too. It really is a wonderful awakening.
  8. Jo I suggest you copy and paste your post from here into the "Pre Respond to Your Own SOS". Then, if this ever comes up again you can see just how worked up this whole episode got you and how relieved you are that you didn't take that final, fatal step. Also, I've spent a lot of time picking out a "nine" gif for your August anniversary. Please don't piss me off.
  9. Congratulations Andy. Well done!
  10. Congrats on 3 days Jackie. Put all your focus on making it to 4 days.
  11. Well done Nikki. If you’re tough and smart enough to get through day one there’s nothing that can stop you now. Proud of you!
  12. Congratulations Jack Celebrate this great achievement
  13. Cranston fire in Idyllwild caused heavy smoke and ash where I live but it's calmed down now. Fire is 50% contained. Over 15,000 acres of beautiful mountain forest destroyed. Almost felt like I was smoking again when the smoke was thick. Very sad that some demented arsonist was responsible for starting 9 fires in that area. 2 Firefighters injured and multiple homes destroyed. Heard that arsonist is eligible for life in prison sentence.
  14. Hi nikki and welcome. In addition to learning all you can about this addiction and sharing your ups and downs, many people find that having a "ticker" is a big motivator. It tracks the time you have been smoke free, the money you've saved, and the number of cigarettes you've avoided since quitting. If you're interested in creating your own, click on the first tab entitled "Ticker" under the Quit Train logo at the top of the page. It asks you to fill in some basic info and once complete, will show up at the bottom of every post/response you do. Many people find tickers inspirational.....especially in the first year of their quit. Again, welcome aboard. You can do this.
  15. Is 8 months a really big deal? Congratulations Jo!

  21. I see your list of reasons not to quit. Where are the reasons why you should?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
