  1. Just got back from a 6 day backpacking trip on the John Muir Trail in Kings Canyon National Park. Probably the most challenging hike I've ever done, but the most beautiful too. Would not have been possible 4 years ago. This pic is at Middle Rae Lake.
  2. Congratulations Jack. Glad you made the best decision possible 2 years ago.
  3. 2 years ain't just a bunch of fluff. Congratulations on another year of freedom Wee Fluffy Me!
  4. Congratulations Linda and welcome to the Lido Deck! From someone who started out with so much doubt and fear (and let's face it, high drama) you really evolved into a solid quitter who's primary concern is supporting others through this process. You deserve a party to end all parties!
  5. I am so excited for you Linda. What a great accomplishment!
  6. I gave myself frequent rewards like a dinner at a nice restaurant or new sneakers. After some time and significant savings I'd go for bigger stuff like a new sofa or new truck. But, by far, the best reward came from my body itself. I went from a tired couch potato to an extremely active hiker and backpacker. Here's a picture of the reward I'm giving myself very soon. Two weeks of backpacking the John Muir Trail.
  7. Could we please have a little decorum at this party?!? Well that answers that question.
  8. Barfing absolves risky kitchen specialties Flute
  9. Sure sounds like a great reason to celebrate to me. Freedom is surely worth the effort. Thanks for sharing your journey with us Reci.
  10. Great job Diane. I used another app that gave me badges and told me the health improvements I was achieving. I too found it motivating. Keep up the good work. You’re doing this!
  11. "...no more Michelle Bashing, for that will not help" And the support and encouragement has worked really great, right? You are in deep denial my friend. You don't even come out and say "I smoked". Instead you talk in some abstract terms about your junkie thinking telling you to have one. I had to read your post twice to figure out that you actually relapsed. Again. I, for one, am going to put you on "ignore" because I think that's exactly what you are doing with the advice you are getting here. Hope you figure this all out. You don't know what you're missing.
  12. Here's a video of my wife during her morning grooming routine. She does this after she bleaches her mustache.
  13. Michelle I find it worrisome that you keep saying you can't smoke because you don't have the money or transportation to get cigarettes. Sometime soon you will have the opportunity to get some. That's when it's going to come down to your commitment not to smoke. Please work on strengthening your resolution. That, not money or a ride to the store, is what will prevent you from lighting up. You can do this. It just comes down to getting your mind in the right place.
  14. Let the countdown begin. Moving from months to days. Congratulations MLMR!
  15. It takes absolutely no effort now to remain smoke free. I have zero desire to smoke. Ever. After 39 years as a smoker I didn't think it would ever be possible to get to that point, but it is. You'll get there Diane. Just keep going.
  16. nope
  17. npe
  18. Smearing one's thighs with Pop Tart jam (if that's what it really is) prevents chaffing from unicorns. However, it does cause constipation to the animal. I found that my sleep began to normalize after a month or so.
  19. OMG.....I rarely look at mine, but apparently I hit $20K today.
  20. Stay strong and focused Edy. Just get through today for now.
  21. Patience Grasshopper.
  22. You're doing great Diane. It's WAY more rewarding to accomplish something that was a challenge than to achieve something that was effortless.
  23. Okay...WTF!?! Wade "Fair Wind" Sweet? I can hear my grandfather's comments from a time long past. "Sounds a little light in the loafers". Unless, of course, the "fair wind" is referring to my flatulence, in which case it's entirely accurate.
  24. Joe In reality, you haven't felt normal since you were a non-smoker.* Right now you're feeling the effects of withdrawal. When you smoke after a month to feel like yourself again you're just reigniting the addiction. Which in turn, needs to be fed every half hour for you to feel like yourself. Remain smoke-free and you'll find out what feeling normal really is. It's amazing! * I'm paraphrasing something Sarge said in an earlier post.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
