  1. I know I said it the other day, buts its my hands not being red raw from washing them to try and cover up the smell. And like you, the annoying smokers cough has gone. And I don't avoid people in case they smell my secret habit anymore!

  3. Today I had my first wobble. I had a conversation with myself about whether it was appropriate for me to go and buy a packet of cigarettes....because obviously I have proved I can stop, so what will one day matter? Anyway, you'll be glad to know I got bored with the conversation quite quickly and moved on....without going and buying a packet. :)
  4. Bakon - you really want a picture of my tongue???
  5. ...my tongue is a nice colour!
  6. Silly observation....not rocket science! However now I am no longer a (secret) smoker, wow, I have so much more time! And even better, because I'm not constantly washing my hands to try and disguise the smell of cigarettes, my hands look so much nicer and less raw from all the scrubbing. Its the little things hey......
  7. Thanks everyone. Just spoken to my OH and he is holding up well. It has been expected, which from my own experience kind of makes it a little easier to cope with. I will stay strong for us all. xxxx
  8. Not really smoking related, so please remove the post if inappropriate. Just feeling very alone and sad tonight - my OH called early to let me know his father (my father-in-law) had just died. We had been expecting it, but it has still come as such a shock. Feel so useless being here in France while he is in UK dealing with all this. Most people don't like their in-laws, but I love mine so much, more so since I lost my own parents a few years back. I've not been tempted to smoke at all weirdly. Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest. It helps to write it down as I can't say it out loud being on my own. Stay strong everyone - life is so precious, so let's do all we can to make it as good as possible, without those pesky cigarettes.
  9. Eeer, I have two donkeys (Gaston and Julie), two cats (Bobby & Pumpkin), ten chickens (all called Deirdre), a cockerel (Christophe) and a hive of bees (and no, I haven't named them all!).
  10. Welcome and good on you!
  11. Think its working now! Thank you all so much for your continued support.
  12. BTW I am a bit confused by my signature. It says 4 days still, but it has been six! am I doing something wrong????
  13. Merci tout le monde. Today going well. I have holiday accommodation here in France so have just had some guests arrive for a week. Feeling a little stressy, but ok. Having a nice cup of tea. xx Thank you all so much for your support. I am not really craving cigarettes, its more the sleeping issues that are bothering me. I think I may go and have a nap in the sun!
  14. Thanks guys. Just got to try and stay calm and remember that a few nights of little sleep aren't going to hurt me as much as cigarettes.
  15. Thank you. I am an anxiety sufferer and so lack of sleep is a big problem for me. Thankfully my cat got on the bed when I was anxious last night and helped to calm me down. :) weirdly then the other one got on so I didn't feel alone. They have a sixth sense these animals. :)
  16. Good evening. Another day gone by and no cigarettes. I have to say I have been very busy today and did have a momentary thought of how a nice break in the sunshine with a cigarette would be good.....but then I figured it would be just as good with a cup of tea. :) Feeling ok about everything but really having trouble sleeping - not sure if it is related to quitting or just because I am finding it weird without my partner here. When I can't sleep I get anxious unfortunately....:( Sure it will pass anyway, onwards and upwards
  17. Thank you. I have been putting off going there because I get upset very easily, but the doggy smiles when you take them out for a walk made it all worthwhile. :)
  18. Another smoke free day. Spent this afternoon walking some dogs at an animal refuge. It was nice to give them some freedom from their kennels for an hour. So today I did something nice for someone else....even if it was a dog!
  19. I did buy myself some plants yesterday, so that was nice. Today....I have just been to yoga and then cleaned my house. It has never looked so sparkly!
  20. Hello, I'm still here, and still smoke free. :D
  21. Oh. And after saying goodbye to my oh at airport he sent me an SMS begging me to stop. So I have.....for me as well though. Because I wanted to.
  22. Merci tout le monde! So that's two days down now. No major wobbles....had a cup of tea instead of a cigarette this afternoon and just enjoyed the warm sunshine. Also did some yoga. Got my yoga class in the morning too so more to take my mind d off things. Doubly hard at moment as my oh is away in UK as his dad is very poorly. The temptation would be to smoke even more, so I am surprising myself. Just hope I sleep better tonight.
  23. Merci!
  24. I actually have stopped twice. Once for about three years, the other about 2.5 years. Always so angry with myself when I failed.
  25. Hi Doreen. I live in France, but am British. Moved here 4.5 years ago. I was actually a non-smoker when I moved here (had been for about 2.5 years) but things got extremely stressful and I started again. This morning I found a cigarette in my car.....just sitting there looking at me. I ripped it up and put it in the bin. :P

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
