  1. get well soon
  2. The past few years have been quite stressful, starting a new life in France was part of that after the death of both my parents in a short space of time. We have spent the last few years trying to build up this holiday accommodation business (which has taken all our money) and I do translation work as and when I can get it. But money is tight....we struggle. I would just like to stop having to worry about money for a few days, spend a day doing nothing and not feeling guilty, and stop worrying that everything isn't perfect and accept it is good enough. I am a terrible perfectionist and feel a failure a lot of the time. I am a glass half empty person, I would like to be a glass half full person. Baby steps....
  3. I did have a tiny little dessert on Saturday night........
  4. oooh, have I really? Get me, let's all have a slice of cake and a nice cup of tea to celebrate! :) Thanks for all your support
  5. don't eat too much ordinary liquorice! it can dangerously raise your blood pressure. DGL liquorice is fine though. :)
  6. I suffered gastritis and reflux as a result of smoking - I even had to go so far as having a tube down my throat in my stomach and biposies taken. It was jusut recurrent gastritis, and it appears to have resolved since giving up. I think your nurse is right Helpneeded, in your case you are detoxing. Mixing quarter of a teaspoon of bicarbonate (baking) soda in a small glass of water can help. There is also DGL liquorice sweets. Good luck. :)
  7. yeah sure, I guess it must feel like its all been for nothing. But it hasn't. You still helped them, and maybe sowed a seed for their next quit.
  8. I found washing all my smelly clothes helped too. Smelling clean was sooooooooooooo nice.
  9. Just to flip the coin on its head, maybe some people are continuing with their quit but just don't find the time to come on? I know I am not one to spend hours on forums. I tend to just dip in and out as I please. And when I do dip in its not coz' I'm craving a cigarette necessarily. Everyone is different, and some of us just have busy lives! Cue abuse!
  10. Are you a scouser Doreen? Whereabouts? I went to uni in Liverpool. :)
  11. It will be Bastille Day here in France on 14th July. Beautiful fireworks down by the river at midnight. Lucky for me social situations are never a trigger as I was a secret (ha ha!) smoker, who only ever smoked alone. So you could say my own company is my worst enemy. Good luck to anyone who does struggle with social situations though......stay strong!
  12. eeeer, you can have however many it says at the bottom!
  13. Lavender (Marillion) What would make you really happy right now?
  14. Why thank you everyone. I hadn't even realised!!! That has gone quick I must say.... :)
  15. I would love to know too Reciprocity. All my attempts at GIFS and JPEGS have failed miserably. :/
  16. it certainly was. Stress was always my excuse to quit quitting. So glad I have got beyond that stage now.....long may it continue.
  17. I have had such a stressful day, but for the first time since quitting the thought of smoking to calm the stress did not cross my mind. Instead I had a good cry, kicked myself up the backside, and just got on with things.......cigarettes did not enter my head!
  18. But on the plus side, all the aforementioned foods smell a hell of a lot better!
  19. So sorry, I've only just seen this. You're all a lovely bunch! Let me give you all a big hug. :) Its bigger than when I was a smoker coz' there is more of me to share around. Damned chocolate and chips and burgers and pizzas!
  20. Aw thanks. :)
  21. ha ha, you must be joking! My profile pic is the best you will get!
  22. thanks everyone, and thanks Dee for being my venting partner!! :paratrooper_girl: I will address this problem, I will start in small steps and just try and cut down on the crap for now. :)
  23. Bakon, you haven't seen the size of my weeds! and how do you know I have big pants? oh, and I don't have tattoos Anyway, our guest leaves today so I shall get back to eating normally.......no biscuits.....no ice cream......... Thanks everyone for letting me vent! I hope my jeans fit better this morning!
  24. Yes, I know, you are all right. Just feeling sorry for myself as my jeans are too tight! I am actually already pretty active as I do a lot of garden maintenance around our holiday cottages. Yesterday and today I did about 4-5 hours of strimming, plus I have been sweeping up and housework (guests arriving tomorrow!). Basically I just eat too much - I have always had an impulse control problem! I will keep plodding along! :pleasantry:
  25. I already had generous curves.........ok, I was already very overweight!!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
