  1. I used to smoke one handed whilst feeding my babies. I used to smoke in the car (windown open, so that's ok right) when my kids were trapped in there too. I used to smoke in my kitchen, where I fed my children. So much, so many feelings of how awful I was. That's quite apart from outside where all fresh air was non contaminated so non smokers were just whinging about the smell right. The absolute shame I feel now!!! My whole house smells of smoke again with my Mum who's decided she's moving out so no longer really cares whether the rest of us have to breath it in. Because she wants to smoke and we're all just being a-holes by not letting her smoke in the house when she's disabled and it's so cold out?! COPD, caused by smoking, it's pretty dumb and totally self obsessed for the 4 other people who live here and chose not to smoke, 2 are children. Thing is we all remember that "need" to smoke. It takes rational thought and leaves it elsewhere while our inner junkie takes over.
  2. massive congrats on 2 weeks!! Being nosy and wondering what you're doing to treat yourself? x
  3. How didit go Mr Gump?? xx
  4. Hey Mike, I get it. For me it was the kids dinnertime, they mucked about and I didn't want to yell so I'd go smoke - ya know -to handle the situation...but it kept me smoking Mike. Sounds like the interstate is your thing. Good you've recognised it tho!! My buddy calls them "practice quits" and I promise you, you absolutely can quit. If we don't want to be smokers, we need to find a way to handle those "times" where we struggle. There is always going to be a choice. We need to remember we always have a choice. You need to choose NOPE to smoking and ideally, get a plan in place for that scenario that you can do instead. What about taking a straw with you and sucking air through it?? For me, the car was cough candy time. By the time I'd finished it the crave/trigger had passed and it was ok again. Congrats on your quit and welcome!! xx
  5. nope.
  6. Argh, my friend who only social smokes after quitting 5 YEARS AGO has started to smoke again...NOT ONE PUFF EVER people! Sad times.

Very sad... I know everyone is different but I just could not have got to this point and ever consider smoking ever again. It just goes to show how very different we all are. I would rather have hot candle wax poured in my eyes than smoke a ciggy. I just can't imagine going all that time.

Be great to cover off some milestones in the celebration thread with you. Also, make sure you have "treats" now and then, kind of rewarding yourself for doing so great! xx

  13. You know you're a little bit amazing right...I mean I have said for sure haven't I!! My friend I am proper chuffed to bits to see you reach this milestone, no sword wielding zombie apocolypse ready broads normally impress me so :) Honestly, you are amazing. Your honesty about stages of your quit came to mind a lot for me of late, plus your support... Crap I always cry at celebrations!! I'm so lame but you're such an inspiration you are worth the puffy eyes :) Love ya, have a fab celebration, go...be awesome. xx
  14. NOPE and thank you for the pledge this year!!
  15. 40 mins yoga today, pretty hard going as I feel like I haven't exercised forever!!
  16. Welcome runfree. What an inspiring way to quit, just know it's done :) It will help to get some fruit juice and take sips, with no nicotine in your system then blood sugar goes a little out of whack for the 3 days it takes to get all the nicotine out. Here is fabulous of course and I hear good things about Allen Carr. Another site I and others used was whyquit.com and there's loads of great info there too. Look forward to hearing from you. Posting regularly was the difference for me this quit, it would be great to hear from you when you're ready on how you're doing. x
  17. Sure you just dunk them in pickling vinegar don't you? That's how I do shallots (mini onions) anyway. xx
  18. G'wan Jax!! Love it!! :) Happy 4 months beauty and have a fabulous wedding, and many many pics please. xx

  20. Looking forward to going back to work, hoping part time. Getting my masters and teacher qualification in reiki so the year after I can teach people myself Vague rumblings of my own spiritual business but will need an actual job so maybe a little back burner Getting my living situation to a happier place. Big big year this is!! Loving hearing everyone else's :)
  21. Absolutely right. NOPE for me.
  22. Hey Nat, pleased to see a post from you my friend :) The suggestions above are all good ones and yes, I too was a teeth brusher or avid clearer upper after dinner! I just want to add though. It helped me and so maybe you, to remember they are just triggers. As in, it wasn't a desire in me to smoke...it was simply my brain reminding me that's what we used to do in this situation, and when we woke up, and in the car etc etc. It helped me to get a different plan going at all these key trigger points, a new habit in place to replace the smoking one. It really stopped those craves/triggers quite quickly. Partly learned from failed quits that they all had some sort of point in time I would call "too stressful" and part I got fed up of the constant thoughts. Maybe make your own plan of action of what your new normal will be in tricky situations? xx
  23. I'm so very sorry my lovely Nancy. It goes without saying I will add your sister to my healing circle and raise my prayers for your family. Wish I was closer so I could come over and give you a big hug. Please know I'm available for venting anytime and I really mean that. The other side is modern medicine really is a most wonderful thing. The options now, although harsh, allow every opportunity for recovery. xx
  24. Cool beans, here's mine... 1) Teach "the chosen one" (special Bakon?) how to speak properly. 2) Buy a new dress because i know where "that one" has been 3) Avoid Ohio 4) Resume playing FAIRLY, the chicks and sticks game. My actual resolution is 5) Resolve to get rid of anything or person I wouldn't like Milly or Bella to interact with :)
  25. Pleased to hear the site helped you but honestly, more pleased to share our journey together now. Welcome :) x

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
