I'm always intrigued. What actually is a green day? assuming it's not slime although Bakon, it was a toy for sure! Or a red day but I assume that's just meat?

Absolutely NOPE from me.

Brilliant to hear you're already on day 3, have seen you in the background and how lovely you are following your sons lead :) You will be re inforcing his quit with yours, quite apart from the benefit to yourself...wonderful!! Day 3, you say you wobbled previously but this is "the quit", "the new quit"...don't give your brain any room to manouvre in this is my advice. You absolutely can and will do this, all we need is a how to...so post more here, social, games, here, quit smoking, write a blog?. Get a bottle of water and take sips. When you feel on edge breath in for 4 and out for 4 until it calms. Write a list of why you don't like being a smoker, keep it with you, read it often. Exercise, in fact any movement is good...releases happy endorphins that lift our spirits. The difference is you are here and you really want this!! x

Ah I see, very similar moves to the Tara Lee - Earth DVD just with extra bits and pieces.... do you find doing it as a stand alone helps you at all? Like clear your mind, make you feel stronger, focused etc? Oh jeez, I hope he don't find out...it'll be carnage! Howare you now? Insanity was the Shaun T crazy, it was multiple workouts in rotation but you do 45 mins a day. Idid try the series as a smoker, I was dying by day 3 lol. Now they do classes based on the moves, think it's hit aus as well. From your training session descriptions it's kinda like a class of that... A similar type of workout is the HIIT stuff that's all the rage too.... This is the shaun T vid description and as it was so successful trainers were sold like a franchise that every 8 weeks has an different program from the moves. Monday's are Insane days - BOOM :) (and I only crawled to my water bottle once last week haha). -
You will feel it lift a bit week by week, So today isn't all there is... but yeah, it seems to hold on overall for a fair while. Adds to your crabbiness too. Not sure if it was a Joel or whyquit.com place I read approx 100 days and that sounded fair when I got there:) Be good if you track too :) No one said it would be easy to heal but that's what is happening...your body heals from the inside out and I assume it's some chemical reaction sorta thing...but am not a scientist to understand lol. How you feeling today? I don't remember reading about any treats you gave yourself, make sure you give yourself something even if it's a magazine that you wouldn't usually waste money on! It's a way of celebrating both the financial and mental gains...you gotta have spoils of war right! x

A brand new week...NOPE for me!!

Blogs for me, Julie and KSmedic specifically started me on the trail as they were both chantix too. Even read Bakons :) Was looking for a realistic route of how to do this, had literally no idea how to quit. What helped was nice comments...not the so do it already stuff... and I'm not a pushover, I can tell it like it is, but I needed building up. Later chicks and sticks numbers game when I needed distraction and that positivity thread that was on social, like the positive sayings. Feel like I missed out, never looked at cats or dogs to this day lol

Ok Lennon, it's fantastic you see that already!! So have you started to think of things you could "replace" those transitional times with? Did you write a list of reasons you quit to carry with you in case you have a mental wobble? hese sort of things plus reading up on how this addiction works are the difference with quitting via a support forum...you actually get support - if you want it :) x

I had a wonderful friend once upon a time, Nathan. We were lucky enough to re connect back in 2008 and he said something so lovely, it kinda stuck... no more woulda coulda shoulda, if I want it, I do it!! It's actually on my quotes for facebook, no deep and meaningful, somebody's really real experience. I am generally smart enough for others, never myself, it's the way it goes huh :) The most brutal of life lessons I've learnt is no rewinding. Just know we did the best we could with what we had at the time. Life is there to be grown, but we are made of stars so you'd expect no less.....I can be deep ;) Re the fog, it's a real thing. Month 4 you kinda come out blinking with the bright light...very weird, very wonderful. Look forward to hearing your thought when you get there!

Who doesn't love that crap right :) Beautiful moment for you though Crys, what a top bloke. x

Sure it was most of Jan she was away in Portugal. Missing my beautiful arty friend. xx

Those natural endorphins are some "good stuff" right :) You sound so healthy generally, I'm so pleased the pieces of the puzzle are fitting together for you, you should not be a smoker with the rest of your lifestyle :) Don't sweat the bad days oneistoo, embrace them! It's the "going through" the feelings that strengthens our resolve to hold on. Re the friend, some people are just best avoided where possible if they are your litmus paper to the quit. Steer clear...loads of healthier and longer life to deal later. x

Haha, mostly good news but some things like smoke and rubbish and oh my god, some people just really smell and I'm "oh wow" !! You'll be spending your smoke money on scented stuff in no time though :)
-
Hmmm, I think to start with I ended up being preachy, in fact I know I did :) In the end I answered simply enough, my daughter is now the age I picked up my first cigarette...the thought of her being able to do that and her becoming a smoker made me realize it was beyond time. More often you will get the question of "how" did you quit. I think maybe this comes later. For that one I gave my three top tips, sips cold water, a list and join a support forum... Doing fabulous Rooster!! Bet most are looking at you thinking how they wish they were where you are!

Hiya Rob, Good to see the update on day 4. Day 3 sucked big time for a lot of people. The nice thing I think is it seems after a tough day an easier one comes and we get a break. Worth remembering if you face a tough day. The one thing I can relate to with what you've said is when it feels like the feelings are taking you over and it takes all day. I wanted to take a moment to mention my thoughts in case it helps you at all. Sometimes, without even meaning too you can follow a line of thought. I mean start thinking about it, over thinking it etc etc. It may sound silly but distract yourself as quickly as possible. No big thinking helps. Just literally think nope and do something else as soon as possible. Simple advice that really helped me early days so happy to pass it on. Other than that, reading and watching the vids helps solidify your thinking. Lots more energy - check - super excited for you with what is coming!! Your first actual deep breath is pretty amazing :) Some people find their sleep patterns are disturbed to start. However I agree, need far less sleep now and hangovers are way easier too. All good news, more time to enjoy life! Have you put any new habits in place to replace the times you would smoke? That really helped me. As did writing a list of reasons you quit, carry it with and if you doubt it's easy to pull out your own reasons and re-assure yourself? Junk food, why not ey :) Just a phase, don't worry too much. It will calm down on it's own and you will find a new normal later. Although exercise really helps with this quitting malarky...gets the feel good endorphins releasing and combined with the extra energy, more time etc not a bad "habit" to add when you feel ready. Rambling, oops!! Shutting up now :) Welcome and congrats on your quit!! x

Welcome Lennon, So pleased you found this place. I do absolutely think our children can carry a quit, we are parents after all, but it's healthy to read up about what it is you're facing. I baulked at being called an addict, I am a nice girl lol. However it is true, the more you understand about the way nicotine works and takes hold the easier it is to choose not to smoke despite some crazy thoughts. My big advice is start replacing your triggers. If you smoked first thing, find a "new normal" thing to do (eg read here, clean your work surfaces or any one thing). If you smoked in the car, get a cough candy or suck air through a straw etc etc habit going. The thing I never understood is it caused no pain not to smoke, but all kinds of chaos if I did. The thoughts however, were emotional and constant unless I replaced them. Hope that helps as a start point :) Oh, and write a list of all the reasons you don't want to be a smoker and carry it with you wherever you go...you start to doubt, whip out the list and read your own reasons there and then...really easy way to remind yourself, then say nope and move on with your day. x
