  1. Sounds like everything is doing what it;s gonna do. Isn't it weird how life just keeps going when we quit, and we don't need to smoke to partake in it, the good the bad and the ugly. Sorry and pleased in equal measure for all the "others" bit. Delighted you're keeping on, great work. The only way is up, right on!! x
  2. Congrats on 2 weeks :) x
  3. You do love a thought or 20 don't you. triggers near a landmark time you say, wonder if it's normal - yep! My quit was solid as Everest and my poor overworked quit buddy still had to drag my sorry butt to one year crying and tantruming :) Seriously, grit your teeth and best foot forward. This foot, that foot, this foot again, *wipes brow* and repeat. Triggers TEW, it's only triggers and that last ditch cry of the addict. YOU HAVE GOT THIS! Trust that!! It will pass sweetie, honestly, 366 days will be sweet release :)
  4. Late to the party but wanted to salute you. I once read a piece of solid advice (after being a proper div drunk) which said. Tell those you like in a moment of sanity that you love and respect them and to give you some leeway for a while. Solid advice! Drinking shouldn't be an issue but let's be straight, anything that lowers inhibitions can be a problem in the early days. Ex english landlady of pubs here, I liked a wine or 5 in an evening and I really had to tone down too as my quit became risked on more than one occassion and it simply isn't worth it in my honest opinion. I spent many nights taking an early night - not because I was tired but simply to hide out in my blanket fort, poking my eyes over the top of the covers wondering when it would be safe to be in the real world. I can tell you by month 3 I was at the pub with smokers and feeling sorry for them having to smoke. Like damn, didn't that table turn pretty quick considering I smoked for eons! Tell your old man you're bringing crazy back as a trend for a while, that you love him and you are embarking on a big old journey that needs support. Do what you will with the box of tricks, some kept them, most ditched them. For sure I had one time if I could of found something I would have smoked (drunk, argument, dumb times), was pleased nothing was there! Bumped the executive assistant post for you to have a read of in the smoking discussions. it says more than I ever could :) Exactly where you should be though, name an all :) Doing great!! x
  5. This post always made it make sense to me. Bump. x
  6. congrats on week 1! A massive achievement :) Well done! It's not harder or easier, just use the same steps, nope, no smoking, smokings not on the table, can literally do anything else but smoke...and make each day. I heard a saying that quitting is a journey, not an event. I like that. Ups and downs, but real talk here, smoking never helped any single thing for us. You got this. xx
  7. Don't forget to take some mindful breaths when those weird feelings hit. Breath in, breath out, and repeat until it passes. It's all about getting used to the new you and your new healthier habits. No need to over think it, just start putting in new habits. Breathing is a good one ause you're kinda having to do some of it anyway :) x
  8. I might have to cook pancakes now lol. Great name, go big or go home I say :) The sleep thing calms down. Some basics for natural rememdies though. Lavender is said to be relaxing, maybe scented bath things before bed. Hot chocolate, never underestimate warm milk. Chamomile or Peppermint tea are great (they never tell you peppermint which is technically for stomach but really works well for sleep). xx
  9. Pancakes are a pudding surely?? lol Hi and welcome :) It sounds like you are exactly on schedule to have a beautiful quit, great job! x
  10. Awww gorgeous. x
  11. No plans for our next holiday as yet :( Can't believe you're planning more holidays already. Do you guys actually work or are you proper bums and just pretending to have jobs lol.
  12. What, of Alex??
  13. BOOM!! Lovin the 1 year Rowly. Hope it's all a bit better for you now. xx
  14. It's tough to open up, I hear you. But listen, even if you are the queen of repression, you don't know anyone here who matters right?! And we REALLY want to support you cause who else could you turn to with this stuff other than other ex smokers who knew they needed to get support?! Pleased you've got this Kendra. x
  15. Way to go Evelyn. I really sometimes think you are the strongest person I know, I mean that straight up! I literally don't have the strength you do to re group and I know when you've got a handle on all the life experience you have to face that you will be a true force to be reconed with. For now, not smoking is an excellent choice in the self worth and health game, good job!
  16. I'm so pleased you quit too Doreen. It's nice to think we are healing now rather than adding to the ticking time bomb! The numbers are utterly horrifying aren't they, think mine's around 17 thousand  x
  17. Quit ya whinging ;) I have lots of very important stuff to say. I'm kind of a big deal.... :D
  18. We do have the same sort of look don't we lol, they say owners get dogs who are like them hee hee. So anyway. Batman arrived Tuesday. Poor little dude was poorly as ya like, kennel cough and so thin with a terrible upset stomach. He was a Bosnian street dog, rescued at 3 months and thrown in a halfway house for two months and then shipped to Romania where they issue dog passports to travel here and go to a foster carer. Who I'm being nice to but good grief (that's abridged) who gives a puppy such rubbish food and keeps him poorly sick! Grrrr. Anyway, it's Sunday night now. Puppy's stomach is all fixed and kennel cough is well on the way, although it takes as long as it takes. He's getting regular reiki healing sessions, he's so cute he falls asleep. he follows me around and his energy levels are building really well. he was tired and lethargic upon arrival, now he's a happy tearaway and training has commenced :) He is utterly awesome. Love me, love my dog  . He's super cute!!
  19. Awww sweetheart, this is just not the time. Get a restraining order!! Also, I'm gonna say this mum (mom?) to mum - if you are anything like me and your daughter is anything like mine - they know enough, they just want their mother to be ok. Do what makes you feel the most ok and Alex will be solid. No over thinking. It's ok to take a day or two to wallow, a "why me" moment and then bootstraps time girl! If what you need is her gone, get her gone. Much love. x
  20. Hey Jess, absolutely, let us have your back. Get that meter reset and let's "get er done"! You absolutely can do this. x
  21. Welcome to the best decision of your life and the board :) xx
  22. Happy birthday to my favourite Libra :) Much love dog. xx

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
