  1. Agreed Juan, there isn't a right or wrong way. You get the mindset from the reasons you chose not to smoke in the first place...I think that's different for all of us. Reasons for me were 2nd hand smoke in my house, money, smokers cough so I could "hear" the damage I was causing and so on and so forth. Find your reasons and that should give you the mindset. Then read!! Don't just say you are, actually read one thing a day even. I DO NOT want a limb cut off because my circulation is too poor to carry blood to it, ewwww! I do not want my teeth to fall out! I do not want the COPD my mum has and so on... By reading and learning the truth of what smoking is doing you find you don't want to smoke, but you still get thoughts - it helps you to fight those thoughts to have the reasons clear in your mind why you choose not to. Then we wait, and if we don't smoke and we wait long enough and continue with NOPE I am assured we will enjoy being a non smoker more than the days where it was a struggle. And keep posting, just write and write until it all makes sense and the bad feelings have passed. xx
  2. Well I never, will you look at that, never even noticed lol.
  3. I understand completely, this is when I find my plan B or internally insult the hell out of the person I am trying not to kill at that moment in time. One foot in front of the other, just keep moving forward and it will ease. I agree we spent years as smokers, we just need some time to enjoy being non smokers. x
  4. -8
  5. nope for me. Unlike the sneaky bugger supposedly on day 4.... (cough, day 1 again)
  6. Well done at day 1, awesome job!! I posted a lot the first few days and that's cool, the folks here talked me through it all and I read a lot. I don't know if that helps to know. For you I think brilliant news and I'm so pleased for you. x
  7. We will support you, because once, someone supported us! I'm english so I shall just say welcome and come on in :) But honestly, I wish someone had of told me this....BABY steps mean this quitting malarky, it's apparently more than do-able, I mean everyone said it was too hard, like really tough......transpires it's not actually, it can be done and we would love to help you on your journey. xx
  8. These guys saved my life too, I hear ya! Amy great job babe, you made it through. Iam, are you nearly done with work too?
  9. I am lovin the mentality. It's so much easier if your mindset is helping you. It's pretty awesome how far through day 1 you guys already are. You are covering ground here and I think you are doing brilliant. At the risk of not sounding "british" enough this is awesome! Make sure you write a list soonish of why you want to quit, you don't want to ever forget. xx
  10. Good work, as long as it gets sorted then we're good. But I was serious about the venting, I'm here if it's any use to you. x
  11. haha paul, wanna add me on facebook and drop not so subtle points to my man lol. Trish, yeah, got em both?!?! Apparently if you look like you got this other's take note!!
  12. If you are watching them, watch when the "catch" happens, ya know when they inhale and the poisons overtake! Know they HAVE to smoke and you CHOOSE not too. Mostly stop kicking yourself, your relapse is done and dusted, all done, nothing to see here!! You got this Trish, those poor saps think they are in control, you KNOW you are. Watching smokers always made me feel more powerful in my quit, and if it didn't...I ran away to re-group lol. I laugh now, but you can do that, just walk away and breath it out. Come back stronger and ready to watch properly again how those poor souls HAVE to smoke because they aren't as strong as you... and shhh, but maybe....those poor souls will look at you and think maybe I can stop too..... xx
  13. Aw Sharon, I didn't mean that my lovely. I had PTSD after nearly kicking the bucket in childbirth and depression before that. I needed help and the medical people were so amazing for that as was the councelling I did. What I meant was once that was done and dusted I really embraced some natural ways of getting high and I wish I had of known before. Meditation is pretty powerful as are scents. I say this not as a meanwhile back at me, but a get whatever help you need to make yourself feel how you deserve. xx The rest is probably me being a little eclectic and crazy so I'll keep that lol.
  14. How was lunchtime Juan? Thinking of you buddy, hope you're back in lessons now. x
  15. I need to find some little house on the prairies wannabes in england... it's like a tenner per crap bunch of carnations round here :(
  16. Pfft, I only get fresh flowers if I'm overly expressive in my distain of a situation (bitchy) :) Once my friend, once in 2 years, I should go remind that Chris how lucky he is again.... I love scents. I was always freezing making the bath salts and stuff that I actually sell in my garden, didn't dare taint it with smoking smells to make in my house. Lavender epsom bath salts are about to get a whole lot easier lol. Scents today are spiced vanilla (to chill out our cranky but achieving 3 dayer). Teakwood and Cardamom for the work room and Raspberry and thyme for the hallway to relax the kiddos and me for sleeping later. Julie, I ADORE scents, I think this will be my new passion..perfumes, candles, shower stuff.... ooohhhh it's been a tough few days actually and this reminds me why I will continue on this journey :) Not tough like early days, just tough like I could be singing 2nd verse, same as the 1st lol.
  17. So so amazing!! Really happy even though I'm taking a bit of verbal off our day 3'er :) I am happily washing and cleaning everything that's not screwed to the floor, and ligting scented candles.
  18. I am over enthused...I have 3 different scented candles going in different rooms, and I can smell the scents!!! 3 ex smoker house now, there is none for smoking in my little corner of england :)
  19. I'm just liking things to show off that I have some left - clearly more contained ;)
  20. Sharon I am so pleased you're going to the docs, they are normally really good. I just wanted to say I also suffered badly in years gone by, weirdly a lot of my alternative stuff (meditation, spending time in nature, aromatherapy, crystals etc) work just fine now I don't suffer but if you ever want to talk, you know where I am. xx
  21. good job Juan, you got this. Movement helps, shuffle, little jumps, click your fingers, anything if you start to edgy. Stay away from the smokers and go do something else. Get some hard sweets/candy for the car??
  22. Agreed, my mum is using the nrt, she's not smoking either!! Whatever works was my motto, go Amy!! x
  23. Eve was the mother whose now an angel, formerly a black witch with the daughter savannah...was the vampire cassandra or is that a different book series lol, that's right along my type of genre, love the weird and wonderful generally ;)
  24. Snap action, I never met anyone else who read them either, such a brilliantly written series!! Rob, that made me chuckle, bit morish haha.
  25. Brilliant news!! :) Last day the nicotine can have you, after 72 hours your body has got rid of all traces of it, so end of today :) Don't make it a bigger deal today. If you find it hard to be around smoking friends, go somewhere else. Try not to argue with your Mum but if you're horrid just say sorry. So pleased for you feeling positive today. x

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
