  1. haha, ex's make the world go round (very sorry to the pansy's like bandito) ;) A never smoker is excellent work though, all good news. Tell him he will never understand but wine would be better, as would a repeat performance. Jobs a goodun. Don't overthink it hun, life is all good without smoking.
  2. cup of tea? wow, he's worried. Is this the ex files or a new number? Or a rehashed number
  3. PS, is he a smoker...if not he probs has more energy, it's only like 8pm, go again??
  4. lmfao, this is utterly brilliant!! So sorry for the fella's discomfort an all but wow, hillarious! :) Are you good now chick, back to the job in hand ;)
  5. Yay Amy!!! Why the heck not ey!! It will pass, the cravings. Omg I thought I was going to OD on sweet chilli peanuts haha, my mans pub ordered me a whole box to get me through the first weeks lmao. I say this because youabsolutely do what works, to get you through the tough times. I don't care if you go raiding the dark chocolate deliveries ;) You are doing so great though, kinda lovely to see how it should be done, I bitched a whole lot more haha. You are an inspiration, can't wait for your two weeks tomoz my friend so brilliant you brought munchies over cigs!! xx
  6. Juan honey, I'm known for my stalking and you are most definately missing in action my friend!! C'mon Juan, I want this for your sport, for your breathing, I will fight with you and for you if needs be, please believe in yourself and come back. x
  7. Love this!! You decide how hard or easy you will make it after the initial days of needing to have strength.
  8. hahaha, you'll be fine. You know that post coital cough...well that's no more either so you just relax and chill more than before ;) Not sure if anyone else will have words of trigger wisdom lol.
  9. Brilliant Anna, I'm so pleased you posted and introduced yourself :) Was so lovely to chat earlier, so sorry I had to run off, think my littlies were killing each other lol. Such a brilliant time to quit, before loads of damage is done, I'm even more excited for you now!!! Yeah you have the same quit date as Sarah and I am doing it (we shorten that to Iam lol). I can't believe you found us via Craigs list, that's hillarious but go "Nosmoketiffany" as I'm fair sure it was her who mentioned putting it on there :) I can't wait for tomoz now to celebrate all these 1 weeks!! Speak soon. x
  10. Lol Sarge, I'm singing a little verse of " you are my sunshine" now ;) You'll be cool hun, we've all been through where you are and we'll walk it with you if and when you need. Keep posting, keep talking it out and days just pass, they turn into weeks, which turn into months...just by trudging through, one foot in front of the other. It's all phases of things, not constant, trust that there will be great days inbetween the bad sensations. I promise! x
  11. So sorry I missed this ((ross)). Now the good news, that x ray was for the crazy advert they've been piping on about, that was the lung cancer check and they can normally see a shadow and panic and send you onto the next dept (trust me I've seen first hand with a loved one :( ), so that's pretty positive that they said results in a week!! Dentist I can't help you with buddy, two toothaches as we speak but too scared to phone up meself lol, be brave ;) xx
  12. Yes do Jackie, it seems if you face your nightmares they diminish in strength and die off. So maybe before you go to sleep tonight imagine yourself squashing the pack and ripping all the cigs up from the packet in your hand and then go to sleep (or imagine a "fix" for whatever part of the dream it is disturbing you most). Both sides of your brain are strong and you can use one to combat the other (just like in quitting really lol). x Action, nah not for me, yikes, think meadows full of flowers now lol.
  13. Almost 2 years clear of cervical cancer here too, thankfully I was checked every 6 months after loads of weird cells over the years, sliced and diced in the end. Weird though, no one ever linked it to smoking, then I checked (after I quit) and they are linked, strange no doc ever told me they were? Don't think it would have made a difference (!!) but still....
  14. Of course you can handle it. That can do attitude you have given this week will ABSOLUTELY carry you through if you let it. I think I said at one point I wish it was more the hills are alive with the sound of music but hey, it is what it is. Doesn't hurt, mildly un-nerving, more so if you let it get to you. It's just the re-wiring happening and with each crave or emotional phase or whatever that you face, it gets easier to handle ya know. Like, oh this again, I've seen this before and I did xyz and it passed, does that make sense? The xyz by the way is deep breathing, taking control of your thought process and saying I'm not going to smoke soI will sip water/ post here/ write a blog/ do a shuffle dance/ click my fingers...it's simply pulling yourself out of the funk. Same as normal life though Sarah, some funky moods will just have to be gone through, as per normal in whichever way you deal with things. xx
  15. Not seen paperhouse, any good or scary? I don't like scary, bit of a jesse lol. I don't draw pics either lol, I have a good brain that can imagine things, but if not, putting something down in writing or drawing is a pwerful way of putting your intentions forward :) You can just think it as an adult though but I didn't want to list my crazy a#s dreams as an example haha.
  16. Cool, assuming no underlying conditions we can move on :) Like anything it is a moving thing, so no THIS feeling you have today does not go on for weeks, hand on heart. x But weeks 2 and 3 can be more emotional than you are used to, but hey, it's not a bad thing remember, it just your brain re-adjusting to a smoke and nicotine free place and it feels wildly liberating and amazing as well!! Honest guv! SO yes, the odd feeling of "whoa, wtf" intermixed with "hey, cracking on with my normal life here" intermixed with "will you look at me, let's do a victory dance" sorta thing. Different isn't all bad news :) My self esteem is through the roof Sarah, as are others, I feel like I can acheive whatever I put my mind too now, and it didn't hurt me to quit, just some feelings sometimes were uncomfortable. This first week is without a shadow of a doubt the absolute worst it will be!! I won't give up my quit simply so I don't have to face what you are doing right now - take heart from that. This is the tough bit, the rest is just adjustments and some of them suck and some are amazing!! Have faith. xx
  17. I think you sound secure in your quit and are looking more for the relaxing side of events than the casino side, I mean if the casino smells bad and you're not that bothered about going go back to the room and champs/jacuzzi... sounds good to me. At the end of the day though I'm quite used to the smell of 2nd hand smoke so maybe a bigger issue if you're not, only you know what's right for you guys. x
  18. Hi Sarah, it sounds a bit like anxiety, you ever had that before? Can you take deep breaths through it? x
  19. Dreams are simply the brains way awake and asleep of processing information. I'm sure these smoking dreams are our poor confused brains way of asking why we aren't putting this fix back in, after all we've done it for x number of years... My sisters been quit for 5 years, my Dad or 25 and they still get them, it's rare but still happens occasionally. How powerful are our brains as tool!! That said it sounds nasty. One tip if you are revisiting the same dream is plan whilst you're awake what you will do in the dream and actually then you do it! Sounds weird but my daughter and I can both do it now. For instance, she had a cranky fire blowing dragon in her dream on and off for a few days... awake we decided the dragon was probably poorly and looking for her help, so she drew a medicine bottle and wrote dragon be well on it and stashed it under her pillow. Next time she had the dream she gave the dragon the medicine and as we pictured they became friends .... I suffer a lot of nightmares/vivid imagination so I hope that helps someone. xx
  20. Aww I am enjoying the nostalgia, rather than thinking about what my children will face. x
  21. nope, not today
  22. Has anyone heard from CarolJo and Juan, I am looking for their quit dates to be confirmed :) I also noticed two others gabby and was it Gavin, I am free as well... welcome welcome, don't be a lurker, be a joiner :) Have seen Iam, Amy and Sarah posting - brilliant effort guys!! How you doing Evelyn? xx
  23. Smile, they'll never know what you're thinking...

  24. Last time I went fishing 24 year ago lol, I was 14, caught my cousins coat as I threw the line back and flung it in the river which it promptly dissapeared into haha. When's the last time you ran because you had too?
  25. I sooo love this. I'm a year off but I told my 8 year old I didn't have internet as a child, we didn't even have a computer....she gave me the head tilt/sad look and said "oh mum, were you guys poor" lol.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
