  1. To me... It's a promise, a commitment to myself and the people who stand by me. NOPE gives me strength. At one of my weak moments, I had to wait until midnight if I was to smoke because I had given my word....of course by then I didn't want to. NOPE is strength and my motivator to others that I will stand by them. Yeah, it means a lot to me, I pledge every day still. I "like" post from quits newer then mine who pledge for that reason. It matters to me.
  2. Magnolia kid here :) Putting aubergine with it so it needs to be light. I still think it's amethyst but apparently it's aubergine :) With Anne Stokes Art and cushions, I adore that stuff :)
  3. Well in the throws of redecorating the "nico-den". Man it's all kinds of dire and awful. I think all early quitters ought to come here or clean a wall and look at what they were putting in their bodies!! I feel so ashamed of what I was. While most of you normal lot were out in the garden or garage I smoked in my kitchen (my mums lounge was basically the attached dining room) and well, it's vile!! My Mum has my nice clean lounge as she can no longer do stairs. Too poorly now but over a week clean and free from cigs which has really helped her breathing and coughing so much! I could not be happier. So I have a dining room as a lounge now, primer is up across both rooms and ceilings are painted. Walls to go. We are almost free of 2nd and 3rd hand smoke here. It makes me smile :) My moods are still a little up and down, however my quit is as secure as it always was. I truly do not want this vile stuff anywhere near me or mine today or ever again. Once upon a time "forever" scared me, now I utterly embrace it, even through the odd craving thought which angers me more than takes me if I'm honest. So different to my Mums week 2 quit. It all looks very raw and harsh there...my quit is no longer like that. My advice if you're newer or quitting again (I did that a ton of times from July to this March's quit)...hold on!! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel here!! x
  4. My quit is only 3 months old, so I never knew him. However his words were still touching people as I laughed at posts he made and smiled and nodded at others. It sounds like he would of liked that. A legacy is a powerful thing. Hugs to you ((tiff)) x
  5. Brilliant...and true!! I felt pretty bad re my mood swings for my girls, not their fault I was a mardy miserable cow but they did take the odd mood swing....know what...they LOVE that I don't smoke anymore and don't remember for a few weeks I was a bit odd!! It's ok to not be mother earth right now, just don't smoke and you are giving children more of your life!! That is much cooler than thinking a smoke would help! xx

  12. Yeah Bonnie, stop saying it's bad to bully, it's ok if you quit a week or more ;) My nana used to say, "can't help all the people, all the time" - pretty cool that. Her husband said "if you sit on the riverbank long enough you will see the heads of your enemies float past". I'm pleased I never had sunday dinner withthem lol, but it makes sense. So Hat - quit date?? What's your new thinking??

  14. Ok, so it took an admission through A&E and two ambulance calls, a cist on the kidney and a damaged and over beating heart whilst literally filling up with fluid at 66 years old.... (and breath) ....but she quit. She will never read this cause "forums aren't her thing, all those do gooders patting each other on the back" apparently?! But still a one week, bootstrap quit. Just cracked on, some whinging but too scared to smoke anymore. I am still worried but sooo relieved she is at least giving herself a chance to recover a bit here!! If she can do it, really any one can do it. On a selfish note, so much nicer not constantly being around smoking. I get it doesn't bother some, it drove me mad!

  18. Fabulous 4 lace :) Massive congrats, look at you doing it!! So pleased for you. Assume you are busy busy with a lovely smoke free life now and it makes me smile. xx
  19. Go nap honey. Whatever it takes was a great motto.
  20. Awful people!! Wish there were proper laws against poor treatment!! Awww, hope you find a solution that works, I hate the thought of a cat being alone.

  22. Hey pusscat, do you exercise?? I don't mean that rudely but all the guys here were giving it welly on the workout front and I didn't...then tried it and I really enjoy it now (aside from chandeliers lol). I get a natural high and it's done wonders in keeping my mood happier. It sounds as if we are about the same timeframe and tbh, I am very up and down too if that helps to know. Agree with reading the whyquit.com site. Education on the addiction is pretty impressive there and it really does help to know the battle your fighting. Post here, we all take a lot from just company that understands what we are going through at times, both highs and lows. xx
  23. I too snacked badly, my snack of choice was chilli coated peanuts. Go gently with yourself Evelyn, you are already quitting which is the bigger favour to your body for sure. Hard boiled sweets were my best win as they were tasty and lasted ages. Juice may help. Wondering about sweeter fruits too (nectarines/peaches etc).

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
