  1. I'm with bumble on this one. As a smoker we got a buzz and a drop, that we then just kickstarted with another buzz. So our systems were up and down like a yoyo. Sleeping patterns took a couple to three weeks to re adjust as well. Now I feel far more constant if that makes sense. It's a good thing and I can still pull it out of the bag if I need to do a long stint at something but it took a while to re-adjust. I think it helps to think on it as a recovery period, giving your body the time and resources it needs to heal properly from the abuse. You are doing amazingly well. Just tune in and listen to your body as much as you are able to right now and give it all the time and help it needs. Also hydrate more then you think you need to! We get thirstier then we think and as a smoker we miss a lot of cues the body tells us. x
  2. I quit once on patches but started smoking after a year due to a story which boils down to, I will always be an addict. I do believe the patches helped me though. I tried many techniques the last time, was quitting and relapsing at an epic rate! But then champix did work for me and I quit on that, I'm still quit at almost 2 years. So I don't think using a crutch is a bad thing. I believe that everyone is different and for sure I trust that I wouldn't have made a cold turkey quit from where I was mentally. To have told me it was the only way would have been to leave me a smoker in honesty. I believed there was a "thing" I needed to support me. Just adding a different perspective :) x
  3. Welcome back with the better choice. Congrats on nearing the week under your belt.
  4. Taking these guys out, my daughters and my nephews and all the fun we have and the memories we make :) More poignant because when I smoked, I never had the money to do anything. This dude that the kids called Batman because he's black lol. This not so little superhero collie cross will be 1 year old in April, apparently he and Bakon are the only Aries starsign guys that I like :) Batman was a street dog in Bosnia and brought over to England for a new life with me. He has no social skills and digs my whole garden (I am a keen gardener, it's love that I allow his digging!) but we are growing together and I love him so much! And my healing clients. I love to help people grow and it makes my life make sense to help others. These are the main reasons I smile :) x
  5. Welcome to the QT. Post and talk when you need us. Quitting around smokers can actually be helpful in a way. Hearing the cough and seeing the catch can remind you straight away that there are repurcussions to smoking and none of them are good news. Plus what a fantastic example you're showing your son! x
  6. So did anyone actually meet up? I'm meeting Susana from Spain tomorrow, we are heading into London as she's over on a trip for a few days. Finding it weird that it's easier to meet people from Spain and America lol. Where's me brits at??
  7. I'm pleased you were ahead of my journey. I had you ahead of me keeping it painfully real, and I'm sorry that your quit didn't seem easy peasy but it made mine believable and ok. So I would personally like to thank you for the reality of your posts. The beauty of this place is all the differences. Agree that your new avi looks amazing, looking stunning Aine. Wish you the most wonderfilled sisters trip of a lifetime. Congratulations on a most excellent adventure for 2 years and 25 years. Much love. x
  8. Why not with the candies :)
  9. The associations can take a while to break. The "I'll do xyz and then have a smoke" ones. It's tricky but then one day you just crack on with the next job and it's not till later you think "oh, I forgot about not smoking there" lol. It sneaks up on you bit by wonderful bit. You're doing great!! x
  10. It all looks a bit complicated left handed. That said Chris showed my lefty daughter how to tie shoelaces so perhaps a commute.... I feel sorry for today's children, the 70s and 80s were where it was to grow up. I can't even let my 10 year old go to the shop alone as some older kids robbed a youngers kids bike! So then you worry and don't want to let them out of your sight, but how do they gain any independence?? Hmmm Kendra, You have me thinking what they are learning instead.....
  11. I bet Mrs Bakon is lovin your new found facebook enthusiasm haha. Now you can be trouble in multiple on line locations :)
  12. Just for today... NOPE

    yep, all cheering you on!
  15. Will be worth getting some fruit juice (cranberry, orange, apple juice, any of them), and take sips every couple of hours to help offset the blood sugar dips and rises. It only last 3 days as the nicotine leaves your system but it can make you feel a bit wonky without. I know it can seem daunting at times and my advice is not to think too far ahead but I promise you it's not as hard as you think. It's all about how you set your mind (same as anything in life really) so don't be surprised that some of it feels super easy...try and remember that if it feels a bit tough as points. x
  16. As a previous chronic relapser, I understand. It's going to become all about your self speak! That is "junkie thinking" and it can easily throw us off course....the trick is to recognise the junkie thoughts and tell them you CHOOSE to not smoke this time and carry on with life. NOPE, NOPE, NOPE :) xx

  18. 2 weeks is amazing!! massive congrats to you :) x
  19. Hi Kathy, Welcome to the quit train. I am UK based too (buckinghamshire). Congrats on making a great choice and on being on day 1 of your new life. Are you using any quit aids or cold turkey (no right or wrong answer I'm just curious). Hope to see you posting away and sure others will pop along to welcome you soon. x
  20. Hi Karl, So good to hear from you. Again another who never doubted you'd stay quit and I agree, whatever works and when it works is all good. Just happy you're almost a year. And welcome Kathy :)
  21. How you doing today Morgan? Training today?
  22. This too shall pass! Powerful saying. Unlike Poop, wow really?! Warm and squishy, argh lol. Hoping for more empowered feelings and less poop! xx
  23. Excited for you. New you and all that :) That said...Just for today, I will not smoke. The just for today starts a lot of sayings that I use for Reiki but it also works for smoking. I am excited for you and your journey. I can't remember how you're quitting, if you're not using nicotine then try and take sips of fruit juice now and then as your blood sugar levels will muck about for 3 odd days and it will help. x

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
