  1. Thank you, nicest compliment I've had in ages :)
  2. No I'm not there yet, this date is in my future! But someone I care for is almost upon this date and will have a nope to sign for!! ((Gabby)) day 3, no nicotine!!! This site and you rock!! Smoking takes too much, I can't abide it anymore!! Health, finances and who we are are all impacted! NOPE!! Absolutely nope, we are better and stronger than this.
  3. 11 months is utterly fabulous and inspirational. Thank you for sharing and congrats for your quit. x
  4. brilliant. love it.
  5. http://twentytwowords.com/11-awesome-british-phrases-that-americans-should-start-using-asap/ Please let this link work lol.
  6. My Mum gave her last cigarettes away today!! I'm going to have a burn up of these last ones next weekend :) Having thought it through and seen some of you guys also held on, it feels overdue and ok. There's a significance to next saturdays date, so I think I will run with that. Thanks for all your answers!! x
  7. Boom and by the gods, got another one sucked in!! My Giles quits tomorrow with a brilliant mindset of - Mart, if you've got it, then so can I! I LOVE this inspiring stuff!! Even if this doesn't take, he is thinking, and seeing it's do-able and I am somehow managing to enable that, simply by quitting!! And his twin brother is part of my soul group, so if I can suck Giles in, maybe I can suck my Elliott into quitting. By the way some people think soul mates are the bird/bloke they happen to marry or be with etc. I don't buy that although good for you/each to their own etc. I think we pick a group of people that we will re-incarnate with and they will bring something to our life, or us to them. Yes the fella I'm currently with is in my gang but we were powerful to each other as friends too. Numbers wise I think this is in the 5 - 10 ish people realm, in case you wonder what I'm rambling about :) Spiritual ya know :) So I am so pleased I hung tough for all those days I wondered if I was being dim trying to quit. All the times I quit and failed and quit and failed :( Made me sad but each quit/failure taught me something and brought me to this place I am today where I will not smoke, would be the dumbest thing I had done for a long time - pretty much since I last started smoking. I quit though and NOW, here and now, I am a non smoker and I accept that. For months I have been a quitting smoker, or a reformed smoker (lol, real bad) or someone who wasn't smoking....now I just don't smoke. It's like someone gave me the last hidden puzzle pieces but I couldn't tell you which bits were missing, it was a time thing I guess. I typed a line on the voldemort site that hit me like a freight train, it was this: ""I answered questions honestly, like sometimes I would love a cig, but mostly I am just really relieved all those craves are over - no not the withdrawal...the all day every day craves of being a smoker...that was exhausting! "". That is how I feel. It makes me so happy I can use this to help others though, that is who I am :) This emotional outburst is sponsered by white wine :) But still true lol and I am so happy I quit and that others will quit by my example well beyond my two man expectations. 5th quit I've inspired?! Man, I must of looked like some real commited smoker before I became a happy non smoker :)

  9. Rainy bbq my end too. Better than a storm without pool option tho Jenny, bad times :(
  10. Wow, really? And they stayed. Well that's kinda silly in my opinion, I'm with you shouting outtahere lol. And that's with being spiritual. I always wonder if these people are really exagerating though?
  11. BOOM!! Another cousin quitting tomorrow. Just zapping my families smoking habits out of the water!! $th quit I've inspired :) Man I must have look REAL devoted to those smokes lol.

  12. Constant cravings all day every day are all gone, they were so much worse when we were smokers as they happened every 20 minutes! Can I hear a hell NOPE for saturday :) Getting ready or a family party, bring on the drama, still nope! Have a wonderful smoke free and happy to be free now day everyone!
  13. This really is fabulous news!! It may temporarily make the craves worse but you've already proved you can deal with those. Hang tough to whatever got you through. Within 72 hours the nicotine is completely out of your system, how amazing is that!! Also are you taking sips of fruit juice every few hours? Over those first 3 days without nicotine our blood sugar levels can dip as our body adjusts. It can make you feel tired and that in turn makes you think it's a crave when it's not always. You are really owning this quit Gabby and I am so pleased for you. How are you feeling at the end of the day 2 without the nrt (should be your eve now I think)? xx
  14. yeah see Bonnie's 11 post is sticking with me. I do like a "big finish" lol. Then Tracey, I hear ya, get er done an all. babs of course was uber organised and just smoked em em all lol. You can't all come up with different options on me though! Holski, proper tempted to give them to one of two mums I really like down the school. They are both hard up for cash. But then I feel like an ars*hole :( One of the same mums also asked to borrow allen carr - could I give her the cigs and the book....no, it's just weird. If it were still my hubby then that's weirdly ok, I actually did that too, but now he's quit and everyone around me has caved and quit lol. Brilliant problem to have I guess so hang tough holski cause who knows right. x
  15. hey hey Jen, was wondering how hell week was shaping up for you? Not heard much and hope you are ok. x
  16. Pippa too?! This is going to be an utterly amazing week!! Got any plans "7 Pippa"?? :) x
  17. ooo bad times, I'm singing I got 5 on it by a dreadful boy band - but I'm still mega excited for you petra!! x
  18. Sometimes, when you least expect it, this quitting malarky ramps itself up a gear. I was soo upset and angry earlier in the week. I knew I wouldn't smoke, I did think about it read my own answer to an sos (which it wasn't but precautionary). It suddenly felt like an answer from another lifetime. I have cigs in the house, have the whole quit though so not new or a plan, and I thought "I wish it would help, I know it won't, sigh". And just carried on being upset. Like a non smoker!! Having a tough week, the natives are restless and ill and very annoying, each in their own right. Zero desire to smoke! I wonder if it's because my house is safely smoke free now (last quitter has 3 weeks but did smoke here) or whether it's a new faze of this quit. Comrade wasn't much further then me when he posted he hadn't thought about smoking for a whole day!! I want that!! I won't smoke of course and of that I am positive, no more, never again yada yada. I do think though, oh I would smoke here but I don't smoke so that's not gonna happen... without breath, like it reads lol. I even sniff fresh smoke and think ahhhhh and then "oh 40 of those a day, no thanks" and force myself to crack on. Please let it be a new faze!!
  19. I really am wondering what other people did?? There are still cigarettes here. Lesser readers who are not as nosy as I, skip the whole middle section and answer the last line only - Bakon - saved ya! lol I hid them after my Mums health scare where she announced smoking was done, absolute kudos - 50 odd years later she still has a 3 weeks quit! Yeah she's pretty cranky lol, but not smoking. Now.... She put a packet in her handbag and they are all still there. Yes we have the mother/daughter dynamic SOOOO confused and I keep checking, I know, I'm a bad person!! I also removed one sealed one open packet that she had and forgot about in a raid of drawers and cupboards before I went and broke her out of hospital to look after at home, I hid them in the cupboard...in case the quit didn't stick (yes I'm a cost conscious chav!). They are still there too. I don't know whether to get rid or keep them. My whole quit I have had access to cigs via smokers living in the same house!! I actually kinda like this, I always could have and chose not too kind of mentality. Apart from one dire SOS where I still don't know for sure I wouldn't have smoked - as luck would have it the cigs had gone to bed with the owner as I was in my holier than thou quitting faze and poor Mama was concerned her cigs would take the hit haha. So what did you do with yours?!
  20. brilliant, congrats on 4!! Shout us on how all is going chick. x
  21. Welcome!! See you've got 4 months in the bag, fab news! It's nice round here, we like it, homely and friendly. Shhh - I think the sarge is mellowing!! He's not nearly as cranky here ;) Do post and share, it's nice to have other peoples thoughts. x

  23. thanks guys, will have a lookinto some ideas along those lines. x
  24. So soups, what flavours does everyone have, what's really tasty? We grew up being a veg or tomato soup family lol. I just tried french onion (I love onion) and wow, it's naf! I also tried the curry soup one (muligatawny sp?) and that's too potent. So interested what types everyone else eats. I do make chicken noodle for when people are sick but that's just stock, noodles and some chicken so easy peasy to make. Ideas?!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
