  1. It's not unusual that someone who's relatively newly quit would still have a love/hate relationship with smokes. It takes time to process everything you're experiencing while quitting. The trick is, now that you're quit, that you continue to process all the realities of just what your relationship with smoking was when you smoked. As smokers we were always in denial about the truth of what smoking was really doing to us and for us. Once quit, that's our opportunity to begin vilifying smoking in the cold light of day!

  4. Glad to hear you avoided caving to the crave. Unexpected upsets are always a very dangerous thing when they occur early in our quit process because our mind automatically goes to "Gotta have a smoke!!" Of course we all know that having that smoke under those circumstances only destroys your quit and does nothing to help what ever it is that's going off the rails in real life. Smoking is never the answer. The good news is that once you've been through something like this and managed to get through without smoking, you'll not be in such a panic next time something happens. Getting through situations like this truly make your quit stronger - Good Job Stew!

  11. I'm not familiar with these 'pouches' containing nicotine just as I am also not familiar with what chemicals in Chew causes so much mouth cancer among regular users but based on what I have seen or experienced with any & all products containing nicotine, none of those products are good. They ALL do their best to give the user an earlier than expected exit from this life and ALL of them seek to make money on the backs of addicts. In my mind, that's as low as humans can go in terms of treatment of fellow humans

  15. Well then ... Happy Birthday Gus!
  16. Hope everyone who's celebrating this holiday has a great last weekend of summer planned! I've already felt the chill in the early morning air a few times this past week so autumn is on it's way but we get to have one last summer celebration this weekend. Make it a great one!

  19. It's interesting to have a personal perspective on both sides of nicotine addiction, isn't it @Gus Interesting yet frustrating when a friend or relative is involved and still smoking because as we all know, you can set a great example for a smoker by quitting and showing them it's possible but they need to make that commitment to quit on their own terms. Preaching the quit just alienates them!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
