Don't forget about various levels of government around the world that PROFIT big time from the smoking industry. They pretend to want to help stop smoking by regulating packaging images and where people can and can't smoke but all the while, they are raking in huge tax revenue from all the tobacco products sold. I thought governments were supposed to serve and protect us not facilitate others to try and kill us  The evidence that smoking kills is more than clear by now - just outlaw it  That would be difficult for all the current smokers but for the next generation, it would simply not be an option to start smoking. End Rant ...................

Great achievement John. Keep going strong :)

You're ahead of things already by having recognised that this is a major trigger for you. You have prepared yourself over the past month to deal with triggers so now you can just employ any and all copping methods you need to. You'll do just fine. You may surprise yourself at just how far you've really come.

Great accomplishment TAC :D -
Maybe knowing the truth didn't stop you from starting to some Bat but i was likely a big part of the reason that motivated you to finally quit over 3 years ago. Good on you!!

Yes - keep up the fight DeeDee ! It's tough but you can do it and the rewards are so worth it. You deserve to be smoke-free :)

Thank you for posting Markus and my condolences to you on your father's passing. I'm pretty new here and have only just started my quit. Having read a lot of older posts here, I agree with you about wondering where people go and if they are still quit or if they somehow let down their guard and were lured back into smoking again. It's encouraging to a newbie like myself to hear there are actually people out there that keep their long term quits because that is my only goal. Can't imagine going through all this then giving in at some weak moment in the future. It helps me to know that my long term goal is possible. I know it's up to me alone to achieve it but it's great to see that others have done it already. 9 years quit WOW! Congratulations Sir :D

Hello DeeDee :D Congrats on your decision to quit smoking and take back your life! Please stay close to this community as you move forward. I have found that it's a real help to have others around you who are going through the same process. It isn't easy and you really need to want to stay quit to make it long term. It does get better though the longer you can stay smoke free. Remember - Not One Puff Evere! Go to the NOPE pedge each day and remind yourself why you have made this decision. You can do it!! Read as much as you can on this board. You'll find a lot of people going through the same things you will be. Learn from their mistakes, lean on people here for support and keep your desire to stay quit strong. We can support you but only you can actually do it.

We are here to support you when you are ready to commit fully to quitting. As you already know, you have to do the heavy lifting. We can only be there to cheer you on and encourage you to achieve this important goal. We all have it within us to do this; just gotta want it badly ;)

Wait a minute .... French speaking Pig ......... DeeGal (as in Charles De Guall). This is getting a little bizarre, no? Never mind .... back to what ever :the stick" means. Please do enlighten us :D -
Yes, it's not just the time spent smoking but thinking about where and when you can squeeze in a quick smoke, putting up with the crappy weather conditions where you smoke some days. Boggles my mind now thinking about what I was prepared to go through on a regular basis just to keep the beast satisfied :o

New Passenger on the Quit Train
Reciprocity replied to Reciprocity's topic in Introductions & About Us
Still going without smoking. It's a lot easier than the first week for sure but, the battle is no where near won yet. I know the nicotine is completely gone from my system now (went cold turkey on this) but I still get into situations where I have a very powerful urge to smoke. Or sometimes I am just doing something and suddenly I find myself thinking I should be headed outside for a smoke. It's just mental conditioning and I think it's going to take a long while to really break that down and replace it with a new thought process. Haha. sorry for rambling but that's what's going on about now  -
NOPE for me on this fine Thursday

Qu'est que c'est? Moi Newbie est ici :) -
I am driving 2 hours per day each way to work and back. I used to smoke in the car but somehow, it doesn't really bother me now that I'm not smoking. Seems weird in a good way that I'm not wanting to smoke in the car. Never really crosses my mind to light up once I buckle up. Any cravings I get are usually while I'm at work or when I'm at home. The other thing I'm finding is I am eating less, not more. I read a lot of stuff about people eating more once they stop. I am finding the opposite. Drinking a lot more fluids but eating way less solid food.

Starting to think about it less and less often each day so I can now begin to see that there will be a time in the future when the thought of having a smoke will just not be there, or at least not very often. Getting comfortable with not smoking is gonna take a little time. Understandable as it's been a big part of my life for years and years now. But it's starting to feel really good being a non-smoker :)

I'm doing OK I think. There are still times when I get a pretty bad urge but I try to just wait it out and remember alI I have gone through to get to this point. Don't want to do that 1st week again ..... that's for sure :o It's tough still when things just come along and put you under stress. That's when I find I have to really need to be strong. It is getting a little better each day though so, that's also really encouraging :)

Ummmm .............. OK; NOPE :D

The lengths the poor smoker will go !!!!
Reciprocity replied to Doreensfree's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Yes smoking can run your life, that's or sure. So nice to be taking back control again. No more planning everything around whether you'll be able to smoke or not :) -
Nope for me this snowy Sunday :D
