Welcome to this wonderful place Lisa. Others here have already high-lighted a few important things: Total commitment to never taking even one more puff once you extinguish that last smoke and take back your life! Read all the information you can here and where ever you can find it about just how addictive this habit is and just how bad it is for you. Read the posts of people here that have gone through the very same thing you will be going through - it helps you to know you're not alone or feeling different things than others that are quitting. Come to this board as often as you can. Post up what you're going through, read other's posts. It will be an important part of your quit. The people here are all very supportive if you are serious about your quit. They will help you along through the early days. Be sure to go to the NOPE pledge page very day and post there. Helps you to reinforce your quit each day. Maybe also get a ticker for your signature so you can track your progress - it's fun to see how far you've come. Best wishes to you Lisa. Let us know how you're doing along the way :)

Smarten up Pig!! You remember watching your father die with a plastic tube shoved down his throat to prolong his life? Do you remember cleaning your sister's house of the dark brown nicotine stains that covered her ceilings and walls after she had died from smoking? Even you as a smoker you couldn't believe how bad that was. Through all that you continued to smoke and ignore the clear evidence that smoking kills in a very ugly way. Then years later you somehow decided to quit. You did something they never were able to do and now you're even thinking of throwing that away - don't you dare do that. Do anything but that!!

PLEASE DON'T SMOKE!! (for your sake)

Just carry on and do the best you can. No one can expect more than that. Push the smoking thing out of your mind altogether. You're done with that now and you know it wouldn't help anything anyway - only makes things worse and why would you want to do that??

Not gonna happen ........ NOPE!

"D" I'm truly sorry you and your hubby are going through this quality of life - it just shouldn't be this way and that's what has brought us all here in a common goal - stop the insanity of killing ourselves by inhaling toxic chemicals into our lungs. It make me so angry to think about it now from a completely different perspective than what I have had for all my life up until now.

Don't forget about various levels of government around the world that PROFIT big time from the smoking industry. They pretend to want to help stop smoking by regulating packaging images and where people can and can't smoke but all the while, they are raking in huge tax revenue from all the tobacco products sold. I thought governments were supposed to serve and protect us not facilitate others to try and kill us  The evidence that smoking kills is more than clear by now - just outlaw it  That would be difficult for all the current smokers but for the next generation, it would simply not be an option to start smoking. End Rant ...................

Great achievement John. Keep going strong :)

You're ahead of things already by having recognised that this is a major trigger for you. You have prepared yourself over the past month to deal with triggers so now you can just employ any and all copping methods you need to. You'll do just fine. You may surprise yourself at just how far you've really come.

Nope for me too!!

Headline News: TAC turns "Old Phart" Feb. 20, 2017
Reciprocity replied to TAC's topic in Celebrations!
Great accomplishment TAC :D -
Maybe knowing the truth didn't stop you from starting to some Bat but i was likely a big part of the reason that motivated you to finally quit over 3 years ago. Good on you!!

Yes - keep up the fight DeeDee ! It's tough but you can do it and the rewards are so worth it. You deserve to be smoke-free :)

Thank you for posting Markus and my condolences to you on your father's passing. I'm pretty new here and have only just started my quit. Having read a lot of older posts here, I agree with you about wondering where people go and if they are still quit or if they somehow let down their guard and were lured back into smoking again. It's encouraging to a newbie like myself to hear there are actually people out there that keep their long term quits because that is my only goal. Can't imagine going through all this then giving in at some weak moment in the future. It helps me to know that my long term goal is possible. I know it's up to me alone to achieve it but it's great to see that others have done it already. 9 years quit WOW! Congratulations Sir :D
