  1. Julian, You won't find anyone here that promotes vaping. You are basically smoking still if you are vaping - just using a different delivery vehicle. Even if you are vaping with a no nicotine product you are still going through the same physical motions as smoking. Breaking those motions of smoking is probably as important and more difficult than getting the nicotine out of your system. There are videos in the "Joel" library here that address these issues. Please spend some time looking into this when you can. Education about the addiction is paramount in helping you to build a solid quit. Congrats for getting through day one! Treat yourself to something nice and carry on through day 2 - you're doing great!!

    Thinking

You're right. I think it will really take a full year before we are re-programed to do stuff without immediately thinking about smoking. That's the reason for the 1 year pledge here. Even though you may feel confident in having a handle on your quit after a few weeks/months; it's those seasonal triggers that can catch you by surprise. If you are no longer committing daily to not smoking, you may just find yourself giving into one of those urges at some point. Stay strong people - protect that quit!
  3. NOPE!

  5. Yes! You're doing great Parsley!! You are about 8 or 9 days quit now? That;s awesome as that first week is the worst of it for sure. The whole 1st month was a bit of a head turner for me to tell the truth but that 1st week was the worst of it. Things will gradually settle down some for you and become easier to manage over the next week or so. Just keep pushing forward. Maybe also go back and enter a quite date in your profile so we can follow your progress better and help you celebrate your milestones. You deserve to be recognized for your efforts and besides, it's fun to have us all fawn over you for a bit - lol. Anyway, great work - keep it up!!
  6. I know. We were moving in for the kill late yesterday now this? Crazy!!

  11. If you see one of these signs - run like hell unless you have a big gun and lots of ammo. They aren't as far south as Banff though.
  12. Nice that weekends are now smoke-free, even if they do go by as fast as before :)

  15. Hey - We sticks will stand for none of this blatant recruiting! I'm reporting you to a moderator!!
  16. Yeah - Way to go J :) That first week is the worst usually so now that you're done with it, things should start to get a little less intense. You've learned all those coping techniques that first week so just use them along the way. Stay close to the "Quit Train" for awesome support and continue reading and educating yourself about this addiction. That will serve you well :) Well done Girl!!
  17. NOPE! Snow snow, go away. Don't you know it's the first of May!!
  18. Hi Julian and welcome to our community of "quitters"!! You have made the best decision of your life to quit smoking completely. Many think they can just cut down or maybe just have one once and a while. Not true and can't be done. Smoking is an addiction and that addiction demands to be fed regularly. By quitting completely, you will starve that addiction and eventually beat your addiction down to the point where it will be just a memory. Going on vacation may be the best time to start your quit actually. You'll be out of your normal routine so the normal smoking triggers you have won't be there in the same way as if your were at home. This, and being around other non smokers could be a benefit to you. Spend as much time before then on this site and read as much as you can about this addiction. There's a ton of videos as well on smoking. Education about this addiction and your resolve to not smoke will be keys in a successful quit attempt. Look forward to following you on your journey. There's a lot of great people here who will all lend you support along the way.
  19. Banff is nice. Especially that time of year. We call that "going south" where I come from - lol.

  24. 2 How's the lawn? I gotta cut mine too one day soon. If the temp would just stay above 0 for a bit??

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
