  2. Like this perhaps??
  3. Hope so but if we're goin' on a mission we gotta get to Cannada right quick before The Donald builds a WALL or puts a tariff on Canadian women :P
  4. What's happened to our Pixel Sketch? She was very active here the past couple of weeks then suddenly gone 2 days ago! I hope she's OK :unknw:
  5. I think part of the reason was also that I wanted to see if I could actually do it because I knew it would be really tough. Sounds weird but I like to challenge myself from time to time and that has ended me up in hospital twice in my lifetime with serious injuries so I figured that this challenge would either have no effect on my life if I failed or, it would benefit me if I was successful. I know that's strange but as long as it works out; it's all good :)

  11. I'm working from home today as well as taking care of some house repair/maintenance stuff. Good idea to keep busy during your early quit. Keep yourself occupied and not only will that help distract you; you'll have the cleanest & most organized house in the State by the time your 1st week is over :P I know you're feeling completely miserable now, it's just part of the process. The intense misery won't last that long and once you are through it, you'll be well on your way to securing your quit :) Come here often and let us know how you're doing. Also be sure to keep focused on your reason for quitting. Keep that in the front of your mind as it will help you through this tough part. Reflect on how far you've come even if it's just a day or two. The early days are really hard work so you don't want to throw that all away or have to repeat it. I know these two things kept me moving forward in the early days.

  13. We're not laughing AG1 because we all went through it too. We know how unbelievably unsettling those first days can be. Experiencing all the things you mentioned and it's exhausting just dealing with it all but; it won't kill you whereas smoking just might so, grit your teeth and power through those first days. Come on here and rant all you want. It's what you need to do while your fighting this addiction. Please do read all you can and watch the videos. It will help you develop & keep the right perspective on this addiction. I think the first few days that's pretty much all I did. Stayed inside, hid away from the world and binge watched TV, these videos, read forums etc. Anything to keep my mind off what I was going through. I know I don't have to tell you this but, it does get better - much better. You just have to go through the hard part first. You CAN do it!!

  15. Hey Parsley :) Everything you're experiencing is completely normal and temporary (as I'm sure you already know) but just thought I'd chime in and remind you of that. The anxious feeling, foggy head or fuzzy brain as some call it and irritability as well are all to be expected. One of the unexpected benefits of quiting is that we get a lot of stuff done that we might not normally do, just trying to keep ourselves busy - lol. You're doing great and already starting to see the benefits of being a nonsmoker. Wanting to smoke constantly at this stage of your quit is pretty normal I think. I know I was that way but, those thoughts become less intense and less frequent as you progress.
  16. You guys (gals) are gonna start noticing some of the benefits of not smoking and yes, it's true, some of the things that make the biggest impression are just little things that we would normally take for granted day to day. You two are doing great! Keep pushing forward and don't look back :)

  18. Embrace the quitting process by understanding that you are finally in control of that addiction and calling ALL the shots. It has NO say in your life any longer!! Yes the addiction will try and persuade you to give up on quitting and feed it again but you're not going to do that because smoking only brings harm to you. Be sure to join us tomorrow for the Thursday N.O.P.E. pledge. Start your day right by telling your addiction who's in charge :)

  21. You are correct Nancy. Now I'm 2
  22. Big Welcome AgaveGirl1 :) Yes, you're doing the best thing possible for yourself by quitting smoking and it's understandable you're a little apprehensive as you come closer to cutting the cord on smoking. But what you will gain by remaining quit is some much better, it's worth a little discomfort going through the process. Please come here often and participate as much as you can. I've noticed that those who participate a lot, seem to do much better with their quits. In terms of the e-cig thing; I'm leaning toward the bad & ugly options you mentioned; certainly not the good. Quitting smoking really consists of two separate things in my opinion. Getting the nicotine out of you system then, reprogramming your brain to handle mundane day to day things without smoking. If you are putting nicotine into your system in any way, that defeats the first issue I mentioned. If you are breathing in vapor through a plastic tube, you are going through the same motions you did when you were smoking cigs. To really free yourself, the sooner you get rid of both those things, the better and the sooner you will rebuild your metal attitude toward smoking in general. That's my opinion only, I'm sure you get other opinions here as well. You've done a great thing by joining our group as well. It REALLY helps to have others around you who are going through all the same things you are so, be sure to come here often. Read all the material you can and watch the videos to. Understanding that smoking is an addiction is critical to moving on without it and being happy about it. Welcome again and hope to see you around often. Go to our Daily NOPE Pledge thread every day and pledge your NOPE (Not On Puff Ever). This helps to reinforce your quit commitment daily :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
