  1. ^^^ This is the truth. Everyone finds out, most the hard way, that you can not have just one every now and then. Sooner or later you will be smoking the same volume you originally smoked - or more even. This is not something a smoker can control for any length of time. You either smoke, or you don't smoke. There's no in between.
  2. Actually, your 4 month anniversary was yesterday John so a slightly belated congratulations on keeping your quit going strong. I'm sure it's getting a little easier all the time and you are enjoying the many benefits of your quit by now. Keep up the good work :)
  3. We're all working too hard to play games :P

  6. Congratulations on your amazing long term quit. Something for us newbies to aspire to :D
  7. Thanks Jimmy :)
  8. ^^^ True Dee, I can't imagine smoking could be "good" for any sinus condition.
  9. LOL - that's great. 11/22 for both of you - nice :) Yes, this is a very important message for newbies (and I consider myself to be one still). I had a particularly difficult time saving my quit about 1.5 months in and learned this lesson first hand by just not giving in but it was very tempting and very close. All because, like Pearlie said, smoking through emotional situations for so many years we don't really know how to handle them without smoking once we quit. We all know those situations will still be there whether we smoke or not, it's just hard to adjust at first. Once you do adjust though, you learn that it is possible to deal with these things and not smoke. Yes, the way it always was before we started smoking - go figure!
  10. Yes you did. Big congratulations on that :) I guess you obviously don't even think about smoking much anymore since you didn't realize it was your anniversary? Us newbies count every minute basically - lol. Don't forget to treat yourself to something nice. 4 years is huge :)

  12. That's it Beazel :) You fight the good fight until you've won the battle completely. Just keep in mind why you quit in the first place and all the successful hard work you've done to this point. Smoking never did one good thing for you so kick it out of your life for good - we're cheering for you :D

  14. You've received great advice from these other fine people so I can't really add much else. Yes, quitting is hard. Very hard in the early days but it will get easier to manage. It's a slow process so you just have to have faith that it will happen for you, as it does for all of us. The most important part is, do not smoke. Not even one puff. There's just no other way to beat this thing.
  15. Actually, that one was an honest mistake (as opposed to all the other times). -13
  16. 12 G'Day all :)
  17. NOPE! For my Mother, I will not smoke on Mother's Day :)
  18. Congratulations Lone Goose on getting to the 6 month mark without cigarettes! You're half way to the lido deck and looking good :D We can't blame you for doing that happy Goose dance. This is a fantastic accomplishment :good:
  19. Congratulations beazel on reaching the 2 month mark as a non smoker. That's a long time and although it has not always been easy or smooth sailing, you have acquired all the tools you'll need to make this a permanent quit! Now, go treat yourself to something really nice to celebrate this new milestone. Maybe a nice massage? :D

  21. You should be able to just left click on the quite button bottom right of the response you wish to quote and it should produce the quote above your response is like here in my response to you. I've had sinus issues for probably 2 months now although this week I think it's maybe improving a bit. Very frustration though as if affects sleep. We went out today to a sporting event and like you, I too enjoyed the fact I didn't have to smoke before and after and make others wait up for me. It was really strange as well to come out of the stadium and be immediately hit with the strong smell of cigarette smoke. Of course, I never noticed it ever before because I smoked and was one of those people who rushed outside and lit up a smoke immediately.
  22. Wow, congratulations Pearlie on your 11 month quit! You better start packing your bags cuz you're heading for that Lido Deck next month. Don't forget to take a little time to celebrate today though. You deserve it :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
