  2. Hi ish! I saw you posting in the Nope thread yesterday and today. Keep doing that each and every day. It's important to commit to yourself every day that you will not take another puff from a cigarette - ever. There are so many benefits when you really commit to quitting and there are no good reasons to continue to smoke. Smoking is just an endless loop of feeding your addiction to nicotine and serves no other purpose for you. The craving or urge to smoke will be with you for a while just because smoking is ingrained into almost everything you do daily. Only takes a few days for nicotine to be out of your body but it takes longer to reprogram your mind to not look to smoking as a stress reliever, a reward system for good and bad events in your life. The process is unfortunately slower than we would all like but I promise you it does happen for everyone providing you do not smoke. That's the key to it all - just don't smoke. It takes guts and will power to quit but it is totally possible. As Boo said, you need to do this for yourself though, not someone else.

  15. Practice sessions of this annual TT Motorcycle road race began today. Actual race sessions begin June 3rd and run through June 9/17. I suspect no one here will care about this but it is billed as the worlds most dangerous and yet exciting road race on the face of the earth. The mountain course consists of approx. 38 miles of actual roads on the Isle of Mann that are closed to traffic during the race days each year. Average speeds of over 200km/hr. have been recorded in recent years. The course runs through villages and countryside and turns this sleepy Island into a turmoil of tourists and race fans late May through early June each year for 100 years now. It's almost impossible to book accommodation for this event unless you book years in advance. Check out some You Tube vids on the "Isle of Mann TT Road Race" if you are interested.
  16. That's great that you have kept busy. That makes things easier as your mind is focused elsewhere. As Doreen said, just keep in mind that in the early part of your quit, you will have up and down days in terms of craving to smoke. That will even out the further into your quit you get. Every battle you fight successfully, you get stronger and the addiction gets weaker. Glad the patches are helping you. Any tool you can use to keep from smoking is a good tool :) Carry on Jules, you're doing great!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
