  4. Yes - don't be shy. Quitting is serious business and together all of us are stronger. Plus, from what I have observed in the short time I've been around here, those that participate regularly here tend to be successful with their quits. That association with other smokers who have quit seems to be a very positive thing particularly when struggling in the early days. No matter what you're experiencing, someone here has experienced the exact same thing so, why not join in on the discussion :)

    Day 4

Welcome back Kell :) Technically yes, even one puff sets you back to the start of your quit but I'm not going to split hairs here. The important thing is that you are back on quit (I'm assuming you had no more cigs or puffs since at the bar?). Now you know your boyfriend is back to smoking, you need to have a plan as to how you will deal with the next similar situation. If he had several cigarettes the other night, you can bet he's back to smoking full time. You can't just turn it on and off at will - it's an addiction. Feeding it, even one or two puffs, makes it stronger and weakens you as a non smoker. Don't foorget to join us on the main board too Kell. Others I'm sure would like to respond to your posts and comments too. We all need assistance along the way at some point or other. Wishing you the best on your renewed quit. R.
  11. Good for you B57!! Make sure you start posting in the daily NOPE thread here. I do it pretty much first thing in the morning each day as a reminder to myself NOT to smoke for just today. That's what we do initially, just deal with today or this hour even. Don't look too far ahead. Make sure to post in the other threads too as more people will see you posts and don't even be timid about asking for help. That what we are here for ! We will only be disappointed if you don't lean on us for support :) Welcome to you first steps toward freedom.
  12. ^^^ Amen. Can't imaging having to fight those brutal battles at only 18 or 19 years old (some even younger). So many from a lot of countries gave their lives so we could live in a free and democratic society. I'm glad we still recognize their sacrifice even today.

  19. Jump on board, we're all headed to freedom! Maybe go on the main board too and post up in the Introductions thread. I know everyone here would love to meet you and more people will see your post there too :) Yes, sounds like you will have some challenges, given your boyfriend's situation but at least you are thinking about those ahead of time. That's great! Be sure to let us know when you do quit. You mention June 11th. Let us know if you are on track for that date. Feel free to post up before you quit too in case you have questions or comments. Read as much stuff on the site as you can as that will also help you :)

  21. That's the attitude sez!! Yes, embrace those mild urges that you have worked so hard to get to be having because, they used to be worse and in future, they will be even weaker. It's all part of the process we go through the get to be multi-year quitters. And yes, wouldn't it be horrible to have to go back to the start again and do it all over again? I think about that often which only strengthens my resolve. Stick around here and join us on our ride to freedom :)
  22. Yes, that first one was always important to get your day going. I just couldn't give up my morning coffee so what I did was had my morning shower right away as soon as I got out of bed rather than after my "coffee & smoke". I found that helped a little. Shower woke me up and gave me time to get over that morning crave.
  23. 6 This one's a slug-fest :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
