  6. Great news. Keep it up and I hope your shingles issue is done soon!
  7. A huge congratulations to you Andy on being quit for One Full Year!! Nothing short of amazing with all the hard work you have had to do throughout the past year. Take some time to sit back on the Lido Deck & enjoy while we all celebrate your very special milestone. Good job my friend!!
  8. Manage your quit in whatever way you feel is best for you. You don't need to conform to anyone else in terms of how you quit - just make sure YOU DO quit! If that means using patches or whatever other support methods then use those methods. Just never put another cigarette in your mouth and light it! Not 1 Puff Ever!! That is the only way through this journey to come out the other side successfully. And it IS possible as there are many people here on this site with impressive quits to tell the newer people that it can be done. We are no different one person to another - we all struggle in our own ways to break free of this addiction but you need to be prepared to do the heavy lifting when it comes right down to it. We can support you but we can\t quit for you. You need to do that for yourself.

  11. He's around - mostly in the NOPE thread - each and every day!! He's from across the pond where Doreen lives so he is probably now actually officially 1 year quit as of now in terms of his time there but; we'll wait until he at least wakes up to shower him with the accolades he has earned by his hard work and dedication to quitting :)
  12. Thank you all again - love you guys and my smoke free life!
  13. -11 ......................... it's not starting out very well (for the sticks anyway).

  15. Hey thanks my favorite quit buddies :) I have been looking forward to this 1/2 year mark as a pretty major milestone in my quit journey. Next one I have my eye on now is the 1 year anniversary! I want to thank all of you on this board for the wealth of information that I've been able to use to my advantage in helping me quit and stay quit. I feel pretty solid in my quit now but still have a healthy respect for what this addiction is and what will happen if I do anything stupid. I want to keep that in mind always so I can remain quit for life because, as all you that went before me always said in the early part of my quit; "it will get easier if you just push forward and don't smoke" and guess what ........ it did! It's easy to manage now and will get even better in the next 6 months too I expect. Why would I ever throw that all away?

  17. I'll drink to that!
  18. I quit cold turkey right from the start pretty much and now glad I did! Get that Nicotine out of your system asap then focus on the physiological part of quitting which is the longer term effort. Doing it in reverse seems counterintuitive to me.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
