  2. Smoking is it's own little microcosm that attaches to us for life the minute we light that first smoke in our misinformed youth. That first smoke leads to addiction and every smoke afterwards feeds the addiction. It has nothing to do with anything else going on in our lives yet we begin to mentally attach ourselves to smoking through almost everything we do in our lives as smokers. Smoking makes nothing better in our life - never did and never will no, the reason we think smoking makes things better or easier in our lives is that if we don't keep feeding the addiction regularly, the addiction takes over and starts making us very uncomfortable. We feed the addiction and we feel "right" again. No, the addiction feels right again. Our sadness or joy outside of smoking has not changed one bit. Don't romance the cigarette folks because when you do, you keep the addiction fresh and alive in your mind. Smoking does nothing for you. It's an addiction that demands to be constantly fed and that is all it is.

  8. I read your post Sslip and your experience mirrors my own exactly. I wish I could tell you that there would be some sudden, major change about to happen with your quit but, that's not the way it goes. That mental adjustment that you're going through is just so bloody slow it's not only tiring but aggravating too at times. The good news, as you noted above, is that the benefits are many and keep coming. You're invested all in now my friend so there's only 1 course of action and that's straight forward as a proud quitter! You're doing Great! Keep at it

  15. Do something a little different when you start driving maybe? Open the window full & let the wind buffet your face, sing loud & proud to the radio or cd or whatever. Distraction to your normal routine normally helps trick your brain a little bit sometimes.

  23. Well, that was a valuable lesson you learned then from your previous attempt. It really is all about the NOPE. There is no other way to bet through this. I hope you also realized from that experience just how devious this addiction is and how it will play tricks with your mind in order to lure you back. Don't listen this time. You know the drill. Hopefully your quit won't be any worse this time. I guess you won't know until you get into it. A lot of people here to lend support along the way. I won't wish you "good luck" because as you know, luck has nothing to do with how this will turn out for you. Instead I'll hope that you have made a strong, unbreakable commitment to yourself That plus knowledge about this addiction will take you a long way!
  24. Your "friends" are right here Fab You have received wonderful advice from your true friends here. I also agree that you should stick close to here especially when you struggle. We have all been there Fab. Some of us at different points in our quit but we ALL struggle with the same feelings you are having. You have put in so much hard work to this point. This horrible addiction will try every last trick in the book to lure you back but it gets weaker and weaker all the time. Stay the course my friend ...... stay the course Hope you feel better in the morning.
