  3. I was the executor of my sister's Estate when she died a couple of years ago. She was a huge smoker and and alcoholic as well. I had to sell her house and when I went there to get it ready for sale, I found that she apparently laid in bed and smoked all the time because her bedroom was even worse than the pic. you posted. I was horrified when I saw it yet I was a smoker then too so I guess I just justified it by blaming it on her drinking. She couldn't stop smoking because she was an alcoholic. I wasn't an alcoholic so it wasn't a problem that I smoked. I could smoke as much as I liked as long as I didn't drink on top of the smoking :) Junkie thinking at it's most creative!!
  4. Glad you made it through Jess. You KNOW smoking would only deflate you and put you back to square 1. We don't want that do we? You are stronger that this evil nicodemon and you CAN beat it! You are still on the roller coaster part of your quit. Things will look brighter tomorrow so hang in there. It does get easier with time if you just stick with NOPE!
  5. IGT - try and focus on the really great thing you are doing for yourself in quitting smoking for good. Some of those people you mention that are around you at work probably can not help themselves or choose not to depending on their afflictions but YOU are making the choice to live a better life and free yourself from this horrible addiction. That is something to really celebrate. Focus on the positive change YOU are making in your life :) The short fuse is unfortunately part of the territory as we adjust to living life without smoking. It takes a while but it DOES happen and your temper will eventually adjust back to the what it was before you quit. Always remember; the challenging issues we experiencing while quitting are temporary but the benefits last for a lifetime :)
  6. Strait Jacket (Bette Davis 1964). Who wouldn't be afraid of a woman with an ax?!

  8. Welcome LisaMK! You wrote the essence of being a successful life long quitter yourself in your post above "stay on the NOPE train"!! If you commit to and follow through with NOPE each and every day, one day at a time, you'll be successful and we can help you along the way :)
  9. Thanks for all the well wishes gang!! I love being a part of this community and the support I have received over my time here has made the difference between success & failure for my quit. Having people who can truly relate to what you are going through really helps to keep you grounded when you have those days that you question if what you are doing is the right thing. Thanks again fellow quitters :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
