Yes, thanks for posting this up Mr. Titwank - lol Only 1 more month until I reach that magical 1 year quit mark. No thoughts about smoking anymore, at least none that would bring me even close to smoking again. I have learned through others relapses that there is NEVER " just one"!! Never even just one puff. No matter where we are at with our quits it's always the same simple thing that we must abide by ..... NOPE; it's that simple! Now, I did go out to practice my grand Lido Deck pool arrival today but forgot ......... it's winter here and around -30!!
-
Be my guest ........................ Please!

I don't want to smoke anymore. I can't take it.

You have received some great advice already Jon. Welcome to the forum. And even though you are not from the country I live in, I want to thank you for your service. It's so important to all of us to have a strong military! I would agree that you need to get your PTSD addressed first and foremost. A clear mind will be an asset in navigating through the early part of your quit. You have quit before so you KNOW it's doable. Please do read all you can and watch as many of the Joel videos as you can too. Understanding this addiction and how it works is a critical component in not only quitting but staying quit long term. You used the term "abstinence" earl on in your introduction. That is what you've been doing in earlier quits .... abstaining, not really quitting! You have not really taken smoking off the table as an option in your life. You still believe that smoking has and will do something good for you, which is not at all true when you really examine and understand what smoking is and how the addiction works in fooling us into believing it's our friend; our crutch in day to day life. That's where the education comes in Jon. Once you finally and truly understand just what smoking is, you will WANT to turn your back on this evil addiction. You will be happy to be rid of it -
Yup - keeping busy at something you enjoy is as important as having the financial part in place. So many people just fade away after retirement because they suddenly have no reason to wake up each day.
-
NOPE!

What you will need for retirement is pretty much dependent on how long you will live and none of ever really know that so it's pretty much a crap-shoot as far as I'm concerned, unless you have one of those "cash for life" pensions. By quitting smoking we are at least helping our chance for longevity and, we are saving money at the same time

Yes I think everyone does at some point because smoking was connected to every event and every emotion in your life while you smoked but ..... here's the thing. What did smoking really do for you in a positive way? Did it put money in your pocket? Did it improve your health in some manner? Did it make you more popular in social circles? No! It did nothing positive for you. All it ever amounted to was the feeding of an addiction that is bound and determined to kill you before your natural time. What you are feeling now is pretty natural but it is the addiction talking to you. It is a sneaky little bas*ard and you need to be careful about "romancing the cigarette". That's what your addiction wants you to do. It wants you to miss it so much, you'll have just that one. You know, that one for old times sake. Don't listen to that voice. Stay the course you are on and find your freedom. You're still very early in your quit and these thoughts and reactions are completely normal. Just keep on your guard and protect that beautiful quit you have worked so hard to build Latoya. You're doing great!

NOPE!

Happy Birthday Latoya

If you are asking how to eliminate images from posts you have made, the only way I know of is to click on that post then click on edit. In the edit screen, place your cursor to the right of the image then hit backspace. Then click on "edit" or "save" at the bottom to save that action to your post. There may be other ways too - not sure. -
NOPE! Gotta save money to pay those Christmas bills

Hi Jannet and welcome to our family I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It sounds to me like your mother was lucky to have you there to make decisions for her that she could not at the time. And, I'm sure she would be very proud to know you are taking on this challenge to improve you own life! This is without question the best decision you could possibly make for YOU going forward. Rest assured, we are all here to support you as you find your way to freedom. Please feel free to come here and ask anything you want or just vent if that's what you feel like. We know exactly what you are going through as you quit smoking and we are here to support you in your journey. Understanding why you chose to smoke again and having a plan to avoid that happening again will be a key to your success going forward. This addiction we all share is a monster and will attack us at our weakest moments trying to draw us back into it's deadly clutches. Fight it Jannet! Fight it will all you have! Education about this addiction and your unwavering commitment are what is needed to find your freedom. NOPE is the only thing you need to do each and every day (Not One Puff Ever). Participating with other quitters is an important element in our quits I believe so please hang around and get to know us

^^ Welcome OBM Stick around and be like us .......... quitters!

The train ride might be hard at times Virginia but we are all taking the same journey and, our common destination is FREEDOM! I have found it really helps to communicate with other quitters. Others can be supportive to you but only another quitter really understands exactly what you are going through
-
That's a NOPE! from me too! Welcome Virginia Nice to see you joining us.

Remember to read, read, read everything on this site you can. Look for the pinned threads at the top of the Quit Smoking Discussions page! Watch as many of the Joel videos as you can too. There's an entire library available to you here on a separate page. Education about this addiction + personal commitment + support from other quitters = success It is really very simple - just never take another puff ..... ever! This may not seem easy to do at first but once you understand and truly believe that smoking does nothing good for you, it becomes much easier. Focus on the positive things that come your way once you quit. There are all kinds of good things that start to happen the moment you stop smoking.

So sorry to hear you relapsed Albert. You got through that hardest 1st month so you know that you have the ability to quit. You just need to learn from this experience and make sure you don't get complacent again after the hardest part is done. Well done on posting a message to yourself in the pre-respond to your own SOS thread. You can also post up an actual SOS message to others while you read your own message. The key here is not what happened this time but what you learn from the experience and to carry that lesson forward into this quit. You CAN do this Albert. Stick around and let us support you in this journey.

The Festive Season is nearly here !!!!
Reciprocity replied to Doreensfree's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Please tread carefully when it comes to the booze if you are early on in your quit. There have been more relapses related to over indulging with alcohol than I care to count.
