Sorry you had this sudden, latent strong craving experience but full marks for posting on the SOS page I remember that I had an unexpected difficult couple of days 2 months into my quit and that took me by surprise because I thought I was over the heavy-duty crap by then. I never felt that I was in danger of picking up the smokes again but I did have to rally my resources and employ them big time for a short period of time. I was just hit out of the blue by a stressful life event and that was enough to rock my quit boat pretty hard for a bit. Good news is, that never happened to me again and I suspect the same will be true for you as well. Why these things happen when they do I can't say. I'm sure other deeper thinkers than I would have some ideas. All I know is that you need to be prepared for unexpected surges in that lure back to the addiction even after you think you have it beat. Long as you keep that in the back of your mind always and are prepared to defend your hard won quit - you are golden Good Job JB!
  3. Welcome AntoniaSin and congrats on being 10 days quit! Best thing you can do for yourself. As Doreen said, "brain fog" is very common. I know I had it for a good part of my first month quit. Had trouble concentrating on anything for long and yes, I looked forward to climbing into bed every night as soon as I could. I found fighting the early days of my quit exhausting! Maybe try some fruit juice to boost your blood sugar levels. I have heard that is affected when you quit. Keep well hydrated as well by drinking plenty of water. Look forward to seeing you around the board

  13. Yes - THIS! Take control of your addiction. It feels so much better being in charge rather than the slave to a deadly addiction Once you have stopped (and you already have) YOU are in complete control. You and only you decide to stay quit or to smoke again. We can only encourage and advise based on our experiences.

  15. Thanks and yeah .... I too was thinking the exact same thing a year ago. I looked at Boo and Mr. Titwank (Stewie) and saw them coming up on 1 year and thought .... holy crap that's awesome. Guess what? Now it's my turn because I hung in there and did the heavy lifting when it needed to be done. That's all it takes from any of us. A little bit of crap for a lifetime of freedom so just promise yourself that you're gonna do it no matter what and you'll get there too before you know it. By the way, my wife quit years before I did and it never stopped her when I continued to smoke so that should be no issue for you. You may even "inspire" her

  17. Welcome Octain! Sorry I'm late to your quit party but I had some sh*t I had to sort out past day or so. Great decision to quit! I did the same last January because I too got horribly sick for quite a spell. Just dawned on me that It really was time to quit the smokes. I started on the patch but dropped it a few days later and just went cold turkey. It doesn't really matter as long as whatever you do works for YOU. Yes, this quitting is pretty hard at times especially in the early days but it's totally doable if you set you mind to it, educate yourself about this addiction so you can outsmart it and then rely on the support from others that are doing the same thing you are. Thos are the key components and then your daily commitment to NOPE! That's the only MUST DO. Not One Puff Ever and you are free
  18. Good job and yes, the extra time on your hands is shocking at first. Think about all that time you wasted and not only smoking but planing your smoking activities in your head. Do I have enough smokes to last until morning? Is my lighter about to run out of fuel? When can I get out for a smoke break at work? Oh wait, gotta go back to the house, forgot my cigs It's incredible how much of our daily lives were consumed with smoking related thoughts/activities.

  20. Sounds like you might be skating on thin ice, given your admitted association of smoking cigs and pot in past years. If your quit is top priority, which it should be, then tread carefully. That's my opinion but, opinions are like a**holes, everyone's got one
  21. Nice work MD! You've hung in there through the hard times and I imagine you are pretty much into smooth sailing now. Stay vigilant for those odd ball occasions where something hits you out of nowhere. You'll soon be on that Lido Deck with all the other long term quitters. Congrats!!
