5 months is a great quit Jack. Celebrate your achievement and build that quit even stronger. Next month is a half year which is a great milestone to aim for

I don't want to smoke anymore. I can't take it.

Wishing you the very best Jon with your treatment. As said previously, we are here when you need support. Our light is always on and our door is always open -
NOPE!

I think this will be a year of significant changes for me as well. Not clear on exactly what or when but ..... stay tuned! Change is good though. Reawakens you as a person I think. Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend and your mother's poor health as well. As you noted. life is always a mix of good and not so good things. Hope you enjoy what's ahead and at the very least, we will all move forward as smoke-free people. That's a REALLY good thing

Very true! The decision to quit can't be just a passing thought or made on a whim. There is real commitment required and not just for a day or two. It's a process that requires personal commitment and education about this addiction. The support from a like minded group of people is also a great tool so I too would encourage anyone who's thinking about it to take the opportunity with the turning of the calendar to make that commitment to improved health and gain your freedom in 2018. You'll be forever grateful to yourself that you did

Yes, thanks for posting this up Mr. Titwank - lol Only 1 more month until I reach that magical 1 year quit mark. No thoughts about smoking anymore, at least none that would bring me even close to smoking again. I have learned through others relapses that there is NEVER " just one"!! Never even just one puff. No matter where we are at with our quits it's always the same simple thing that we must abide by ..... NOPE; it's that simple! Now, I did go out to practice my grand Lido Deck pool arrival today but forgot ......... it's winter here and around -30!!

Be my guest ........................ Please!

You have received some great advice already Jon. Welcome to the forum. And even though you are not from the country I live in, I want to thank you for your service. It's so important to all of us to have a strong military! I would agree that you need to get your PTSD addressed first and foremost. A clear mind will be an asset in navigating through the early part of your quit. You have quit before so you KNOW it's doable. Please do read all you can and watch as many of the Joel videos as you can too. Understanding this addiction and how it works is a critical component in not only quitting but staying quit long term. You used the term "abstinence" earl on in your introduction. That is what you've been doing in earlier quits .... abstaining, not really quitting! You have not really taken smoking off the table as an option in your life. You still believe that smoking has and will do something good for you, which is not at all true when you really examine and understand what smoking is and how the addiction works in fooling us into believing it's our friend; our crutch in day to day life. That's where the education comes in Jon. Once you finally and truly understand just what smoking is, you will WANT to turn your back on this evil addiction. You will be happy to be rid of it -
Yup - keeping busy at something you enjoy is as important as having the financial part in place. So many people just fade away after retirement because they suddenly have no reason to wake up each day.
-
NOPE!
-
What you will need for retirement is pretty much dependent on how long you will live and none of ever really know that so it's pretty much a crap-shoot as far as I'm concerned, unless you have one of those "cash for life" pensions. By quitting smoking we are at least helping our chance for longevity and, we are saving money at the same time

Yes I think everyone does at some point because smoking was connected to every event and every emotion in your life while you smoked but ..... here's the thing. What did smoking really do for you in a positive way? Did it put money in your pocket? Did it improve your health in some manner? Did it make you more popular in social circles? No! It did nothing positive for you. All it ever amounted to was the feeding of an addiction that is bound and determined to kill you before your natural time. What you are feeling now is pretty natural but it is the addiction talking to you. It is a sneaky little bas*ard and you need to be careful about "romancing the cigarette". That's what your addiction wants you to do. It wants you to miss it so much, you'll have just that one. You know, that one for old times sake. Don't listen to that voice. Stay the course you are on and find your freedom. You're still very early in your quit and these thoughts and reactions are completely normal. Just keep on your guard and protect that beautiful quit you have worked so hard to build Latoya. You're doing great!

NOPE!

Happy Birthday Latoya

Yes, and they are also working on a Quit Train Ticker as well so we can all keep track of our quit progress -

If you are asking how to eliminate images from posts you have made, the only way I know of is to click on that post then click on edit. In the edit screen, place your cursor to the right of the image then hit backspace. Then click on "edit" or "save" at the bottom to save that action to your post. There may be other ways too - not sure. -
NOPE! Gotta save money to pay those Christmas bills
