  1. Everyone seems to get sick (colds & flu) between Oct. & the New Year although, they say temperature has noting to do with illness (I call B.S.!!) At least that sh*t doesn't last all winter anymore since I quit puffing

  6. Fantastic job JB! You can now measure your quit as 1/4 Year!! How great is that? Thanks for all you do here too. I have always believed that the people who participate regularly here do well with their quits. Helping others strengthens one's own quit resolve. I see you being successful in maintaining a life long quit

  8. The thing I don't like about where I am is the swing in temps & humidity between winter and summer. With humidity factored in it can be over 40C in summer (that's over 100 F) and in winter it's dry as a bone and can get to almost -50C with wind factored in. Your body can get acclimatized to almost anything but it's tough when the variance is that big within a span of 6 months!

  12. Thanks for the concern all I really don't mind the snow & cold so much. I'll be warm enough once I attend Joe's cookout

  16. Good for you - YES!! Remember how this feels because you never want to do it again, right? You are pretty much at the peak of any discomfort now that you are 3 days smoke free. Stay strong and stay close to the board here. Let us support you. Read all you can and watch all the videos you can. There's a ton of information available here for you. That will help educate you about this addiction and people here can relate to you because we have all been through that first week! Keep your resolve not to smoke because you will soon be over the worst of it and you have a lot invested now. Build on that. That's how it's done. A little at a time
  17. Dig in Christine. You'll be fine if you take smoking off the table completely. 3 days is pretty much the peak of discomfort in your quit. After 3 days, nicotine is completely out of you system if you are quitting cold turkey. That doesn't mean if gets easy after that but at least that part is done. Then, it;s a matter of retraining your brain to function without cigarettes every hour or so. They call your first week quit "Hell Week". I'm sure you can imagine why now. Stay close to this board over the next while and vent or ask questions or just let us know what you are feeling. That's why we're here. To help you along your journey. We have ALL been where you are right now. We KNOW what you are going through and can at the very least lend you support

  20. That's great! And certainly something to celebrate. I always say, and truly feel, it's not us long term quitters that are the heroes around this place. It's you newbies!! I remember being in that first week on my quit and it takes all you have to deal with all the changes going on in your body and mind. But, if you stick with it, you will soon be one of us old-timers cheering on a whole new group of "just quit" people. We longer term quitters here truly take as much joy in seeing others being successful at quitting as we did with our own quits. It's truly something amazing to be part of

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
