I'm gutted for both of you ? Please stay with us on this board and never smoke again because we need Heroes to look up to. This quit thing is tough enough but when combined with other significant life issues it becomes even more challenging. Well done ladies for carrying the heavy load of health issues and quitting!

Yes Tammy. It won't last forever even though it may seem so in early days. Lots of great stories here to help you understand how others have dealt with it. I always believed that part of the problem is that not only is your body adjusting to the lack of deadly chemicals you suck in through your lungs every 30-60 minutes of each day, your brain has so much more idle time once you've quit. Just think about all the time you spent not only smoking but the things around smoking. Smoking consumed a larger portion of your thought process each day than we realize. Suddenly .... all that's just gone - no longer there so now you have to fill that void. It just takes time. Be patient and it will happen.

I'm sorry you are going through all the medical issues you are at the moment but and very happy and proud that you didn't relapse. That's a WIN for you GITW An important win! You should never be too proud to post an SOS here. No one her judges an SOS; no one! We all have been down these roads ourselves and only wish to help our fellow quitters so you are in good and safe company on this board.

Just saw this GITW and wanted to add my plea for you to stay strong with your quit because just as you have that first one ciggie, you will immediately feel gutted and a lot worse than you do now! How many times have you read stories about that very thing happening with long term quitters who have chosen to smoke again - don't do it please! Don;t add another problem to your life.

Yes Tammy. What you're experiencing is totally normal and to be expected. I remember having like a fogginess in my brain for a while in the early part of my quit. It is all temporary and you will emerge from your quit cocoon as a beautiful, smoke-free butterfly ready to live the rest of your life in good health and with more $$ in your wallet Keep going girl!!

The thing that concerns me about these unusual "hot spells" is that when a cold front comes through, BAMB! super storms with flooding rains and damaging winds - even tornadoes ?

Canada Day is kind of strange here as there's no real protocol to follow. It's just looked at as another long summer weekend which are a prized commodity here due to weather issues most other times of the year. Most just get laid back and relax or maybe do a BBQ. There are fireworks but it's way more prevalent these days then when I was a kid. It's not like in the USA that's for sure. Years ago fireworks were reserved for only Victoria Day which is a celebration of Queen Victoria's BD in late May. See, we do still care about your Brits ?
