  1. I'll see if I can dig up an appropriate Cat/Party Hat image, just for you
  2. -10 we need more men over here ....................
  3. I had a bunch but everyone is different so you may or may not have the same ones. I found the "brain-fog" the most difficult to deal with because I just couldn't focus on much for the first while. The anxiety of the early quit was tough - just had to keep distracted and power through it. Actually, coming here almost 24-7 was what really helped me keep myself occupied. The beauty about all these quit symptoms is ... they don't last forever. The benefits of quitting WILL last forever and, they just keep adding up the longer you stay smoke free
  4. Oh yeah .... we GET IT! That's for sure
  5. Welcome to Quit Train KT!! The first days are difficult Kris but you CAN get through them. I too quit cold turkey, first attempt, just over a year ago and I am still quit and barely even think about smoking anymore. The nicotine will be out of your system in roughly 3 days but it's the retraining your brain to function properly without the smoking ritual that takes a long time. Please read all you can here on the board. There's a ton of information and videos to help educate you about this addiction. Personal commitment, education and pledging daily in the Daily NOPE page are all key in keeping you on track. Stick close to the board for the next while. Take things just 1 hour, 1 day at a time. Don't look to far ahead. You are just quitting for today
  6. Welcome LQ! Glad to have you aboard. Take a seat here in 1st class and join in the discussions, the daily NOPE pledge and even play some games to keep yourself distracted. I think I almost lived on this form for the first while. I too quit cold turkey basically on a whim just over a year ago so YES it is possible. Personal commitment, educating yourself about this awful addiction and the support from others who "get it" will all be important tools in your quit journey.
  7. ^^^ Welcome LizQuit! Come join in the conversations and read all you can here about this horrible addiction we all share. Lots of info. in the "green pinned" threads at the top of the Quit Smoking Discussion Page
  8. Hi Jane & welcome (officially) Make yourself at home, now that you're here. We are a smaller group than what you are used to but we're generally speaking a fun group and in the end we are here to help everyone wanting to put this awful addiction behind them and we love to share everyone's victories and milestones right along with them
  9. You're on my list March 1st isn't far away now!

  16. I also use tinypic and Imgur, which is a similar photo hosting service. Both are free to use but you do have to join up to get an account with them. When you post, there is a thing at the bottom left of the window you are posting in "Drag files here to attach or choose files". You can click on the choose file and select a photo from your hard drive. There are size limits though so if your photo is too large you can't post it.
  17. Congratulations on 10 years of smoke free life! That's amazing. Thanks for stopping by to lend inspiration to those following behind you

  22. Be careful! We seem nice at first then when you get comfortably relaxed ...............
  23. I was sick for a month before I quit - like really sick with bronchitis!! Finally realized I was still smoking even though I could hardly take a breath without initiating a coughing fit. Didn't know if I could make it stick or not but joined a couple of these social media quit smoking sites and educated myself about this addiction. Read stories about other's journeys and that really helped me stay the course through difficult times. 1 year later, here I am. Still quit - still an addict but healthier I expect. My wallet is fatter for sure but that was not a motivating factor for me. I had past many milestones where a pack of smokes hit whatever cost I told myself I would not pay. I had given up on that being a motivational factor for me. - lol.
  24. I don't think anyone knows what's going on. The ownership change there some time ago seems to have taken a rather bizarre turn in that they are not communicating with anyone. Seems it's a wait and see situation for now anyway.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
