  1. Always interesting to see what we were thinking when we first joined up here. Your commitment was obvious from your very 1st post. I wanted to share that with you today in case you had forgotten. Interesting though that you said you might not come around too often? We're certainly glad you did and I bet you are too 3rd time's a charm By PeaceTrain, June 15, 2017 in Introductions & About Us PeaceTrain Quit Date: 5/20/17 Posted June 15, 2017 Hi all. I've been poking around here for a few days and seems like a friendly and helpful group. Long story short (and it's always a long story isn't it?) this is the 3rd time I've quit and this is it for me. I really am done with smoking this time. I've definitely had my tough moments, but for the most part I'm feeling like now that I've made up my mind that no way am I ever going back to killing.myself, it's much easier. In analyzing the toughest days/episodes so far, I realized later that there was a part of me (the addict) that was cooperating in making myself miserable. After all, if it gets THAT bad, I'll just have to go back to smoking, like I did in the past, right?!? Wrong! Not happening this time. One of the things that's been most helpful has been not thinking about it too much. When I realize I'm ruminating about smoking,mi force myself to focus on other things. For that reason, not sure how much I'll be on this forum- we'll see. Hope that's OK and you all understand it's no reflection on you- just doing what I need to do to keep my quit. Best wishes to all in your quit journey. Jump on the peace train!
  2. Oh WOW! That's fabulous Frez Huge congratulations to you! I'm sure you'll be very proud when you take that walk today. Well Done!!
  3. Great Work, way to go Kermit Each month your quit grows bigger and stronger!

  5. Niners Yeah, it's weird. If you buy something that is $1.02 then you just pay $1.00 if it's cash. If it's $1.03 then you pay $1.05 if it's cash. If it's credit or debit then it's the exact price no matter what - go figure!!
  6. That's exactly why this IS an important thread to be posted!!! We all need to reflect from time to time on just how many loved ones have met a horrible end of life because they could not battle this horrible, gripping addiction. WE are doing just that! Battling and winning that battle. That represents hope for a better life for all that hang on to their quits. I think it might be Johnny's signature line that says something like: "I didn't quit smoking to live longer but to live better." I'm paraphrasing of course but you get the idea. Lets all quit and stay quit so we can live better. No matter whether we have 1 or 100 years still available to us.
  7. ^^^^ That looks like it raining Australian spiders ? You keep saying it's safe there but I know it's not. Horrible man-eating spiders everywhere ?
  8. OK - I'm in!! NOPE!
  9. In keeping with tomorrow's special nuptials that Wee fluffy me will be watching with great interest; I'll pledge my Royal NOPE!
  10. I found it tough at times too - really tough like; I don't know if I can do this kind of tough but you're right. Grit your teeth and power though those times and they will diminish in time and become less frequent and you'll find yourself in such a much batter place Now go camping like you said! Which place are you camping at? Hilton, Best Western? Hampton Inn's not bad too ?
  11. 8 Nope - still as bright as a new penny!! Wait, we don't have pennies anymore??

  17. Happy 3rd Quit Smoking Anniversary Rajag!!
  18. You are already starting to reap the benefits of quitting lml. Aside from not smelling of cigarettes, look at the freedom you have already gained. Freedom to sit and talk with your daughter without having to run out for a smoke. For me, I think that has been the greatest benefit of quitting. Free to do what I want when I want for as long as I want. I no longer bow down to the demands of nicotine

  20. Wow Ren, 2 months smoke free already! Congratulations to you for reaching yet another milestone on your journey to lifelong freedom! Treat yourself to something special today. We'll see you next month at your 1/4 year quit mark.
  21. This is great news Novo!! 1 month smoke free and moving ahead to even better days ahead Great work! Be sure to celebrate this major accomplishment.
  22. My father also died largely because of smoking. I remember he had to sleep sitting up to breathe well enough to sleep. How sad is that? He had to be on oxygen for the last years of his life. I know he regretted having been a smoker and never really quitting (went to cigars after cigarettes). My sister also died from a combination of smoking & drinking herself to death. Now SHE was an addict!!! I cleaned her house out and her bedroom was absolutely disgusting with brown goo literally running down her walls. My God! I've never seen anything more disgusting ? If her walls were like that ..... what did her lungs look like? Yes, you may feel like smoking lml. Your quit is still young. Think about what smoking does to us though and to our loved ones and maybe the urge to light one up will fade a little. If you stay with your quit for long enough, it certainly will ease and you will be happy that you stayed true to your commitment not to smoke!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
