  2. I don't deal with high anxiety or panic attack issues so I can not give you any advice in that regard but I have read posts from others on this board who do suffer from these issues and have managed to quit for long periods of time and virtually all have said the same thing. Their level of anxiety after they had quit was much lower than when they smoked. Anxiety created because of smoking is just that .... it's because of your addiction to nicotine. It's a never ending cycle that starts up again the minute you put out that cigarette. That smoking anxiety just gets added on top of whatever other anxiety issues one might have. This smoking thing only makes everything else worse in our lives. Do whatever you need to and get this out of your life. It will be the best thing you have ever done
  3. Good stuff Jack! Just keep doing what you're doing and before you know it, we'll be celebrating your 1 Year quit
  4. Congratulations tocevo! 1/4 year smoke free is great! Celebrate this accomplishment because those first months aren't easy to get through at times and you've done it! I think a nice treat might be in order?

  9. Well done my friend! 2nd anniversary being smoke free and showing others how it's done. Your guidance along the path of my own quit has been so much appreciated. You're now starting into your 3rd year. Keep up the great work That lido deck looks a little different from the one you were on last year
  10. CANADA wins GOLD in Tiddlywinks
  11. Do what ever you have to do to quit and stay quit. No matter what you use, there will be work and self discipline involved but, if you want this badly enough, it is totally doable. There are many of us here that have done it. Try and get your mind into the right spot to celebrate the benefits of quitting rather than focusing on the challenges of quitting. A lot of this is just that ........ mindset Look forward to seeing you around. Lean on this community for support. It really helps being close to people going through the same thing. The more you give to this forum, the more you will receive back without even realizing it.
  12. I knew the cost was pretty insane in Aussiland It's nice to be able to use all that money for stuff other than killing ourselves
  13. There are places here where I live that you can't admit you are from or that you live there without being ridiculed - LOL. You know Jo, until you mentioned this to me I had NO idea the CG's were even happening. That's pretty bad since the last ones were here in the Great White North 2 or 3 years ago and were touted as being a huge success. So why not even a mention in the local news that we have athletes about to compete? Shameful really
  14. Tks for the update Boo. I'm sure he'll be in great shape after he heals up. Glad the outcome was a positive one
  15. Sitting here looking outside at how nice and sunny it is. Looks so warm and spring like, until I look down at the ground and see there's still the remnants of winter's carpet here and there on the ground. a good amount still in places too although now it's more frozen ice crystals rather than snow as most would know it. The thermometer has just inched over the 0 mark and it isn't noon yet so there's bound to be more snow-melt today later on. Probably even be able to venture outside without a coat later if the sun stays out and the wind doesn't come up It's nice to be heading OUT of winter's grip rather then into it!! Another couple of months and we'll be mowing the lawn and planting flowers
  16. Huge congratulations to you Dave! Come aboard and grab yourself a lounge and a cocktail, sit back and relax a little while we shower you with congratulatory messages. It's been a long, and sometimes hard, journey to get here but you checked all the boxes and now it's your turn to celebrate big What a proud moment of accomplishment! Enjoy every minute Dave
  17. Congratulations Jack! 8 months smoke free is some serious quit time Hope you're enjoying all the benefits. Treat yourself to something nice today then forge onward. You're getting there 1 month at a time!
  18. If you had quit, how would you have dried yourself off after the bath??
  19. -5
  20. Congratulations T2B! 3 months is 1/4 year now so that's something great to celebrate You're getting it done! Be sure to treat yourself today to something nice
  21. In a community like this where everyone has a common goal and all of us know the struggles each other deal with day to day, you may find that you have a greater bond with people and have more true personal support than you have experienced elsewhere in your life. That along with knowledge about this addiction are very powerful tools you can use to your advantage
  22. I did the "roll-your-own" thing for awhile back in the day but I was too lazy to keep ahead of what I was smoking so that fell by the wayside at some point even though the cost was more for store bought. I really don;t see that rolling equipment around much any more where I am. I suppose it still exists. The tobacco though that is sold legally will be taxed more as of today regardless. The only tobacco tax that isn't going up today here is for tobacco products processed on aboriginal owned land (Indian reserves to be blunt). There in lies the issue. Government raises tax on tobacco and tobacco products which in turn drives people to the "non-taxed" products. I don't really care any more because I plan to never smoke again but it just pisses me off because it's so "typical" of a government solution to a problem ......... create a bigger problem LOL!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
