  3. We are all still attempting to quit. There isn't really a point in time when any of us can say " That's it - I have now successfully quit for ever!" Perhaps if you could give us more specifics on what you want and what you are trying to accomplish, people might be able to determine if they can help you. For example: 1. People who have started their quit attempt within the past .... day, week, 2 weeks or whatever. 2. I want the 2 people to be no more than 1 day apart, 1 week apart (or whatever) in their quit dates. 3. I want to record messages from each person to the other to determine what quit smoking symptoms they are both experiencing. 4. I want to determine the differences in individual's reactions to what they are experiencing. 5. I want to determine what quit smoking products people are or are not using and how effective any products might be for the individual. Something like that maybe, although not necessarily those specific details. Then people could then decide whether they can help you or not. From my own experience, the first month of a person's quit is the most dramatic in terms of quit symptoms experienced and the effect those symptoms have on an individual's daily life. Also, this period (1st month) probably has the highest relapse rate overall at least from what I have observed.

  14. Yeah, I was just going to comment on the porcine thing - lol We're always so undervalued
  15. Yes - don't look too far out just yet. That's the way to handle this. Don't worry though, you will reach that point when you just KNOW you have the upper hand on this thing. For me it was 5 or 6 months. Others are shorter and some are longer but if you just keep moving ahead, it WILL happen. Keep the faith, especially through the threes (three days - three months). You're right on schedule
  16. Nope - only in Canada can your wee-wee freeze and break off in April So, I'm in the right country for sure. Clearly they don't give a rodent's behind about these contests because, not even a passing mention about it - watching the news right now. They showed a bunch of wind damage and snow covered roads from yesterday but nothing about Commonwealth Games Getting another snowstorm tomorrow (well, Friday) so that's all they will be showing then too.

  19. Nice update Marie What you said seems pretty normal to me, from my recollection of my early quit. I always thought of smoking as a physical thing so the fact that it's the mental urges that end up taking the longest to over come was a little surprising to me. I had both too - mental and physical. For me that uneasy, jittery feeling manifested in short temper, easy to become frustrated etc. That was with me longer than I would have liked but, all this stuff eventually disappears as you re-learn how to live your life without turning to smokes all the time as some kind of emotional band-aid? Now days, for me, when something in my life happens that stresses me or pisses me off .... I don't immediately think of going for a smoke, which is what I would have done before so, yeah .... it takes time but it does happen.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
