  3. Oops ....... missed your "special day" LOL!
  4. I never remember my dreams so it's not an issue for me but I have heard it's pretty common. I'm guessing that it's your brains natural reaction to quitting something that has been such a huge part of your everyday life for years and years. How long have you smoked? 2 years, 5 years, 20 years?? Every day for those years your brain has recognized your smoking routines, even if you aren't aware of it at the time. Suddenly you stop all those routines but your brain needs time to re-adjust to your NEW routines. When you sleep, your brain goes on auto-pilot and guess what? It's remembering your old routine. That's my take on it anyway.
  5. Hey folks! Going on holiday/vacation tomorrow and I don't take any electronic devices with me when I "unplug". Our own in-house crazy person Jo will be putting up the celebrations and, we DO have a Lido Deck arrival next week. I'll leave you guessing who that might be Anyway, try not to wreck the place while I'm gone OK? See you in a week! (Or, maybe not?)

  8. I've been a smoker all of my adult life up until last year. As an adult, I've never really known what life was like as a non-smoker. We all know how much of our lives were controlled by smoking when we smoked because we have had to reprogram our brains to live as non-smokers. I'm still getting used to life as a non-smoker but so far, I think I like it. There's a lot of little things that are different now in a good way and life seems simpler because I don't have to think about all that crap anymore everyday but nothing really stands out as my #1 thing that I like the best. I just like not having to deal with all the bullsh*t baggage that smoking brings to my life. It's odd that when I started smoking back when I was 17 years old, I never noticed all the expense and inconvenience and changes that this addiction brought to my doorstep. Guess I didn't care so much back then?

  10. Oh and I forgot to mention, they sell the place out every year, despite having nothing but a losing record and the absolute highest ticket prices in the entire league. This year for the playoffs, which have just started, tickets went on sale this past week. Only 96 tickets were available to the public out of about a 20,000 seat stadium. The season ticket holders have first refusal on the rest and scooped them ALL up. If you have more money than brains and want to take a trip to Toronto Canada next Monday, I can get you a pair of tickets in a so, so seating area 24 rows up from the ice surface toward one end of the arena for $1,124.00 EACH (plus tax of course). Parking will run about $60.00 so best just take a taxi and if you want a beer $16.00/each. Hot dog is only about $12.00 so .... have 2 If there's two going, you should be able to do it for around $2,500.00 for the night out Guess where I'm NOT going Monday!!

  12. Everything you said is right on!! Anticipating whatever triggers you can allows you to take them on much easier. When you realize that you can get past these situations, the addiction gets weaker and you get stronger. That's why it's recommended you stick around for at least a year - all seasons. Each may have their own set of triggers for you. Christmas/New Years with parties and family gatherings. That kind of thing. Each season has different situations coming along for the first time since you've quit. And yes - this quit is for YOU! It's a benefit to your loved ones too but it's your quit. You own it and YOU are responsible for it and when you have that solid long term quit, YOU are the one who reaps the rewards. Carry on Rose - doing great
  13. LA Kings have won Stanley Cups in the not too distant past I believe. If you want the "Poster Child" for hockey failure over the past 5 decades .... go with the Toronto Maple Leafs One of the original 6 NHL (National Hockey League) teams and won tons of Stanley Cups (the holy grail of hockey) over the years before league expansion. Since 1967 (their last Stanley Cup win) ..... nothing This pic pretty much says it all!!!! Oh and the A on a jersey stands for Assistant Captain. They usually have a couple of assistant captains on each team. It's really just a status symbol though. The captain is supposed to be the leader in terms of rallying the players. If you want to get Bakon going .... trash talk the Pittsburgh Penguins. Maybe ask, who's this guy "Cry-Baby Crosby"? Then .... run and hide
  14. Ha,ha, ..... this will happen well, when .........
  15. Major hurdle scaled today for you. That's HUGE Be Proud!
  16. ^^^^ You peeps need some serious kind of chemical drugs to stop that sh*t from ruining your natural thoughts of puppy dogs, kitty cats and a loving family that thinks you are super-woman; capable of making everyone's lives easy as pie because YOU solve ALL their problems. Geez .... get with the program already
  17. You forgot to mention your ability to manipulate the entire Interweb too
  18. You may be on to something there ..............................
  19. Fake news ....... all of it. There's no games going on. You guys are just screwing with me. If there were games and Canada was winning medals and stuff, the news people would be falling all over themselves to report that stuff. So far ..... not a mention. Not even a peep about any sort of sporting events going on. They talked about the Masters Golf thingy the other week, they even bored us to tears with a full week of unending Men's World Curling Championship TV coverage (there's a week of my life I will never get back ) but still NOT 1 WORD about any Commonwealth Games ..... not even a mention in passing like "oh and by the way .... bla, bla, bla Commonwealth Games bla, bla, bla. NOPE, nothin'!!

  21. NOPE! Not gonna lose my head just because it's Friday 13th
  22. There will likely be a lot of way up and way down moments over the next while for you Rose. As you said in your post above. If you you try not to make a big deal of the down moments, it won't be so bad. You know they don't last all that long so do your best to focus on the positives you see. How much better you smell, how you don't have to go buy smokes any more. How you don't have to find a place to smoke anymore and how you don't miss other important things in your life while you are having those smokes. It just gets better and better all the time. Keep moving forward and be proud of what you've done
  23. Glad you made it through this Rose. Proceed with confidence. You have leaped over a big hurdle. I used deep breathing myself when I felt the anxiety getting the better of me.
  24. So True!! I went through similar with my sister only her addiction was booze. As you state, unless they WANT to make change, it's not going to happen. We can only provide them with the tools and encouragement - not the determination they need. After my sister passed I was angry with her. I felt she had cheated me somehow. I had tried to help her and she didn't do what I had wanted or hoped she would do. I've since realized, it was HER choice, not mine. I did what I could. She just made her own life choices, as poor as they may have been. It's still sad but in both cases Doreen, we did what we could.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
